AFL rosters announced today. Here's who the Giants are sending:

Aramis Garcia - missed a lot of time with injury, not surprising they want him to catch up with some PT.

Eliezer Zambrano - 30 year old catcher, who's been in Richmond the last 4 seasons with a decreasing OPS (which was never good to start with) each season and is currently injured. Don't get this on at all, unless they want him to work with our pitchers. :noidea:

Ryder Jones - still loaded with talent, career high in homeruns this year. Could be a valuable experience for him.

Hunter Cole - on the cusp of the Major Leagues, we've seen a lot of guys in this situation for the Giants. Hunter Strickland, Mac Williamson, Matt Duffy, Erik Cordier, Cody Hall, Andrew Susac all were in the upper minors and thought to be close to making their ML Debuts, and all did the next season. Could be the same with Cole out of all these guys.

This is all I can find so far, but the Scorpions pitching staff is far from complete. I can only find 9 guys officially going at this time, and the pitching staffs usually have as many as 18 guys, so it's possible the Giants send some pitchers. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Tyler Beede goes. Maybe Andrew Suarez or Coonrod. Maybe a few of the relievers like Moronta, Cyr, Martinez.

Zambrano is a head scratcher. I thought he's going to be a minor league free agent at the end of the season. If I remember correctly, he was last year too.

I like it! I will be going to the AFL again this year, hopefully for a full week.

3rd rounder Heath Quinn has been promoted to San Jose. Looking forward to get a quick glimpse of him before the season ends. Should be in the SJ outfield next year, with Reynolds.

The Giants did announce three more players going to Scottsdale - Chris Stratton, Rodolfo Martinez and Tyler Mizenko. Giants name seven players to Arizona Fall League roster Mizenko is another head scratcher but not nearly as big of one as Zambrano.

Thanks. Stratton and Martinez make sense. Mizenko went two years ago. He's had rather pedestrian numbers, as pretty much a 1-inning reliever. Seems to be a pitch to contact, ground ball specialist. I know absolutely nothing about the pitches he throws. Guess we'll find out.

So it was announced today that Tim Tebow is getting assigned to the Fall League by the Mets. His affiliate? The Scottsdale Scorpions :L

I'm not going to the Fall League anymore, don't think I'll be able to stand any more Tebow.

I am pretty sure I am going from 11/6-11/11. Should I ask for TT's autograph for you? :P

I always like to see Keith Law's and Baseball Prospectus lists too. They tend to be more critical of everyone.

There's not a consensus 1, but there's a consensus top 2 and most top 4's will look similar. After that it's a cluster****. There's still quite a bit of depth in the Giants farm, though not a lot of high-end talent. I 100% believe that if we had one blue-chip prospect, this would be a top-10 system. 1 Lucas Giolito, Yoan Moncada, Benintendi etc., people would look at this system much differently. As it stands we have a lot of medium-ceiling, high-floor guys, which is still so useful for the major league club that is in the luxury tax. And in the 2016 draft we took a TON of high-ceiling, low-floor guys, so hopefully we can win the lottery on one of those guys.

I'll be posting my thoughts at some point, but it's that time of year!
