transam is pretty bad ass, but needs to shave the trunk a bit and also the nose. Bring the hood down a bit further. Of course that makes it look like the original, but if you nailed it the first time why change?

I haven't heard about it but I guess I'm not opposed to it. I think they're both kinda sharp.

I'm afraid they'll just be a Camaro with a different nose.
That's how GM fucks things up.

Yea because Pontiac has been closed for some time. These are concepts right now. Sort of like what Dodge is doing with putting a Barracuda nose on the Challenger and the Daytona wing on the rear. Essentially it is a Challenger with a Cuda nose and tail because Plymouth closed a couple of years before Pontiac.

Are they gonna be branded as Chevrolet's since they don't make Pontiacs anymore?

They're bringing all the classics out of retirement. But whoever at Dodge made the new Dart look like it does should be kicked in the groin.

I read that they will be branded a Pontiac, but they didn't want anyone to think that they were bringing "Pontiac" back to market. Whatever that means :laugh3:

Chewbacca. The Chrysler group, as they are officially called now that Fiat owns them outright, took a lot of heat for the Dart. Not only did they screw up the appearance, which often gets confused with a Toyota and Kia, they under-powered the damn thing. Instead of offering an SRT-4 version like they had with the immensely popular Neon, The Chyrsler Group never even offered that option. They should have never stop producing the Neon and that badass 2.4L Turbocharged version found in the SRT-4. Well, sales plummeted because it was such a dog and the looks were terrible unless you looked real hard for the crosshairs grille.

They are also screwin around with the Charger and the 2015 is not too far off from the popular earlier versions. Fiat was smart enough to bring in designers from Ferrari (which Fiat now owns) to help design the Viper being brought back under the hot-rod division of Dodge known as the SRT division. They did a real good job with the 2015 Viper but the sticker price of $107,950 is killing sales in this economy.

I don't know what it is with Chrysler, but when they get a hit, they find a way to eff it up and then wonder why sales goes right down the krapper. Collective bunch of dumbasses

THe neons were a POS. The normal 2.0L 4 cylinder was a total POS. And they have totally fucked up the 2015 Charger. My avy is my 2014 Charger and here is the 2015 Charger. OR Dartger as people are calling it.

Only good thing they are doing is installing a Sport, Track, and Race mode selection on the Hemi versions.

THe TA and GTO are really bad. Just a Camaro with very slight body panel changes. Should have actually made a different body for them both.

I'm a Trans Am owner and a muscle car purist, but I had to tip my hat to this driver. I am not worthy!

A friend of mine sent me these pics a while back and it's my understanding that they are concept cars/one ofs that were built independent of GM. Pontiac is indeed dead and for those who are upset that the Trans- Am would be nothing more than a Camaro that's how it's always been. They were the same damn car with a few variations in engine choices and interior/exterior trim.

I'm forced to hate all TransAms forever because one was driven by a Florida State grad in a movie. So, I hate it.

I hated seeing Pontiac go under, given the long history of bad-ass cars they made, so it'd be awesome to see some of their bellcows resurrected.

However...

The proposed cars pictured fall short, IMO. I love almost all of the new versions of the classics that have come out with a retro look, paying homage to the legends of the past (e.g. T-Bird, Challenger, Camaro, Mustang) but the proposed Trans Am misses the mark for me because, as someone else said, it's basically the new Camaro, which is meant to be a new play on the first generation 67-69 Camaro. My big problem with that is that the iconic TA wasn't a Gen1 car. When people think TA, they think of the 2nd generation models from the 70's. So if you're going to re-introduce a retro Trans Am, it needs to remind people of the classic 2nd Gen cars, not the 1st Gen.

And I love GTOs, but I'm not sure what they're going for with the one proposed here. It's not quite the abomination they tried to introduce in the early 2000's that didn't resemble anything but a Cavalier, but it doesn't instantly remind me of a classic Goat, either. Personally, I wish they'd go for something based off the 64 & 65, but maybe something like that would be a little too straight/boxy to appeal to today's consumer. But it would still look a hell of lot better than the last attempt.
