Harold...I like his build actually...smaller quicker guy like a Aldon Smith type, but seems like he can still gain 20-25 lbs.

PJ Williams...of all of the potential CBs...I've seem more of him than any other...he has a little grit to him...getting burnt a couple of times is not going to faze him much.

Vic Beasley OLB Clemson

I'm starting to do a 180 here.

Yes, I still believe he's basically Shazier 2.0, and will struggle in run support as a 3-4 OLB.

I watched the games vs UGA and Tech and he didn't standout really, but you could see the effect of his speed vs the pro style OFC GA runs more than you could vs the triple option OFC that Tech runs.

Bottomline... he's probably the fastest off the line (front 7) guys in this draft...his size (225 to 235) will most likely scare away the early teams...but in some 5-2 fronts on 3rd down lined up next to Tuitt or Heyward...this guy can wreck havoc as a specialist.

I don't see him as an every down player, so maybe #21 is not the spot to take him, but he could very well be an impact player.

Beasley & Harold are about the same, but Beasley is faster. Both of them will need to put some strength/weight on their frames if they want to make an impact at the pro level, at least if they want to stay at OLB. I could see both transitioned to ILB.

Just depends on what Butler's vision is for his schemes... Too hard to tell at this point what they will be looking for in their OLB's.

Harold supposedly can play @ 250...I'm not sure Beasley can, but he has that Von Miller type burst...Fowler, Shane Ray, Dupree, Shaq Thompson...the guys most boards are predicting to be gone for sure to be gone by 21.

Beasley and Harold could be on the board. It wouldn't bother me to go CB @ 21 because there are a few guys that will be on the board in the 2nd rd I like.

Scheme...yeah...all of that should be coming into focus in short order.

One can always hope for a DeCastro-like fall from the top of the draft for one of those guys, right? :hope:

Said 21...meant 22 of course.

Yeah, that would be great...every year somebody drops, but rarely do pass rusher drop unless there's a real reason.

I have a feeling they're going to get 2 solid players in 1st and 2nd...I'm always hoping for that diamond in the rough....another find like Bryant except at CB would be ideal.

Just curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on the CB's in the draft... Rank your top 5

1. Waynes, Michigan St
2. Peters, Washington
3. Williams, Florida St
4. Rollins, Miami (OH)
5. Carter, Stanford

Close: Collins LSU, Ekpre-Olomu Oregon, Johnson WF

Talent wise...Peters might be the #1 guy from what I've read, but when you consider the whole pkg...your ranking is probably the same as I would rank them....I'd be ok with any of the 5 actually...the top 3 @ 22..Rollins and Carter seem like a slight reach @ 22, but that could change come combine time.

Collins is raw...certainly won't start next year...could evolves to S actually.

As of today...this would be my top 10 board.

1. Dante Fowler, OLB FL
2. Alvin Dupree, OLB FL
3. Waynes, CB MSU
4. Peters, CB WAS
5. Williams, CB FSU
6. Peat, OT Stan
7. Flowers, OT MIA
8. Maxx Williams, TE MINN
9. V. Beasley, OLB CLEM
10. Odighizuwa, OLB UCLA

Fowler is the highest rated player on the board...I don't think he will last past the top 10, but you never know. Dupree is a possibility but after him I shift my focus to CB...if my top 3 are gone, there are 3 or 4 guys I like in the 2nd round so I would shift to OTs...both guys I think could move to LT at some point in the '15 season and move Beech to LG and let Foster walk...If the OTs are are gone TE would intrigue me getting the #1 TE off the board...otherwise I would shift back OLB...Beasley I like more in a sub pkg role, and I think Ohdighizuwa is a solid all around player but might need to be coached up a bit to be an impact pass rusher.

What would your board look like.

I don't quite have a top 10 list yet. But I agree with your strategy.

I would love to take a shot on a top tier OT if the board plays out just right. That would shift Beachum inside, which would be ideal. Here’s my wish list:

1. OLB
2. CB
3. OT
4. TE
5. DE
6. S
7. RB (depends on FA, but even though I think Josh Harris is our guy, still worth a shot to bring in competition)

If OLB/DE’s we want aren’t there in the 1st @22, then I’d look for either CB Wayne, Peters or Williams, and if they aren’t there then it’s possible that OTs Peat, Collins or Clemmings would have fallen of whom I would take any of the 3 in a heart beat. If all of those guys are gone, I would rather reach for a CB if it came down to it. I just don't see TE as much of a need as those other 3 positions in the 1st Rd. This defense needs capable contributors & fast. With the amount of talent in this draft, there’s no reason to not come away with a solid rookie contributor in the 1st round. I know the Steelers don’t trade in the draft much, but I’d also consider trading down or out of the 1st for multiple 2nd rounders. The position in the draft and the needs for the team make a pick @22 rather risky.

Oh and a double dip at CB is in order... no matter what. Just my 2 cents.

La'el Collins...probably is more suited to be a OG at this level...at least that's what most of the draft pundits like Mayock (whom I respect more than others) are saying...but the point idea of a potential starting OT on the left side we agree.

TE...you're right...this pick would be a BPA I'm thinking...getting the #1 TE off the board intrigues me....the OLB/edge rusher guys I think might be available in the 2nd round like Nate Orchard, and Danielle Hunter imo could have the same impact as Digs or Beasley....I could do a 180 on Beasley though...if he comes to the combine north of 235...say 240-245 and still has that speed...he shoots up the board, but likely would be gone @ 22 if that's the case.

DEF...you're 100% right the Steelers do need an impact guy from this draft and the depth appears to be there to get one @ 22...but if those top 5 are gone...CBs like Kevin Williams, or Rollins could come into play if they shine at the combine.

Collins... @ 6'5" 322lbs he has the size to play either. Gilbert is an inch taller but not much heavier (~8lbs). Adams is 6'7" but the same weight as Collins. But as we have learned with Beachum... It's all about technique! I could see him playing OT at the pro level.

I'm hoping that some "2nd round" CB's show up big during their pro-day or combine and someone makes a stab at them... and in that case... FISH ON! lol That'll push talents like Peters or Wayne down the board! I remember this time a couple years ago you & I were saying on ESPN boards that there was no possible way that Jarvis was going to be around @17. But then he dogged his pro-day and BOOM! However I would hope that whomever they draft this season has a more immediate impact than JJ did. :hope:

Collins...you could be spot on.

The player he reminds me of is Greg Robinson...the Aub OT that went to STL...great run blocker, but simply not enough pass protection experience to play OT at the next level...at least not LT, or early.

CB...Gilbert's rookie performance could scare the top 10 teams off CB, but with so many teams needed a CB...I find it hard to think Waynes will slide that far...Peters could. I can see them taking a shot on the big kid from LSU in the 2nd round if they don't go CB @ 22...I have to think Colbert will dbl dip on CB.

I hope you're right about teams passing on CBs early. If Peters is on the board @22 and Colbert takes him then it will erase all character doubts in my mind. Because Colbert is known for being a good judge of character during his face-to-face interviews.

Aside from Chris Rainey & Alameda Ta'Amu, that is... :L I like to think that Colbert took a nap after the 3rd Rd that year but woke up for the very last pick when he grabbed Beachum.

Kevin Williams I think...I can't say I've ever seen him play but his thin build worries me...his cover skills are apparently what has him being mocked to PIT. Has the height and speed...if he comes to the combine at 175...doubtful he'll go in the 1st round...but I'm sure his advisors have told him he needs to be in the 185 range to get serious looks in the 1st round.

FWIW...I like what I've seen of the new site! Good work Hammer and crew!

Beasely...

2015 NFL Draft: Size of Vic Beasley at the forefront of the Combine - Behind the Steel Curtain

You ask and you shall receive ATL! It's almost like they read your post...

Yep... I was against this pick early, and still don't believe he can contain the edge vs the run, but now have pretty much done a 180...he will definitely slide if he comes to the combine in the 220-230 range...but he's much quicker/faster than JJ...as a 3rd down sub-pkg guy on the edge with Heyward or Tuitt...he can contribute I think.

Part of me would like to see Colbert go after Brandon Graham if they are really considering retaining Worilds...but by signing Lemons and giving Moats a strong look...I think they are preparing to lose Worilds and probably targeting the draft for his replacement which means a development yr.
