Carlos Hyde - RB - 49ers

Second-round RB Carlos Hyde has shown well early in camp.

We thought Hyde would play a role as a rookie, but recent developments have made him a crucial piece. Kendall Hunter (ACL) is done for the year, LaMichael James (elbow) is out 4-6 weeks, Marcus Lattimore (knee) still can't practice and Frank Gore is 31 years old. Hyde is worth a long look at his late 10th-round ADP.

Allen Robinson - WR - Jaguars

Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee are now running as the starters in two-wide sets at Jaguars camp.

Cecil Shorts' latest soft-tissue injury has him out at least two weeks, Ace Sanders is facing a four-game ban and Justin Blackmon won't play in the NFL this season. So the Jags' two rookies are being handed first-team work right out of the gate. We're still not high on either as more than WR4/5s as they find their way in a run-first, ball-control scheme quarterbacked by Chad Henne.

Logan Thomas - QB - Cardinals

Coach Bruce Arians said fourth-round QB Logan Thomas "still has to learn when to throw the ball extremely hard and when to throw it accurately."

Thomas has a unique skill set and Carson Palmer will turn 35 in December, so Dynasty owners should be monitoring the situation. We know that accuracy and touch are major issues for Thomas right now. "A strong armed, young quarterback has that problem. He gets all jacked up and wants to show it off," Arians said.

Jace Amaro - TE - Jets

Jets rookie TE Jace Amaro continues to struggle with mental mistakes and drops in camp.

Amaro's main struggles are with X's and O's. He played in a very simple, no-huddle attack at Texas Tech, and has found the transition to the Jets' more sophisticated offense a difficult one. Amaro has time to turn it around, but he appears unlikely to be a fantasy contributor in year one.

Christian Jones - LB - Bears

The Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell is becoming convinced that undrafted rookie LB Christian Jones is going to make the Bears' 53-man roster.

The ex-Florida State linebacker can drop in coverage, and is apparently showing well against the run at camp. LBs coach Reggie Herring recently called Jones raw, but the team is said to be high on him. A failed drug test at the Combine likely was the main reason he didn't hear his name called at the draft. Jones could push converted SLB Shea McClellin for snaps sooner than expected. He'll likely be an immediate contributor on kick coverage units.

He went undrafted? that's silly.

Cyrus Kouandjio - T - Bills

According to WGR 550 Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia, rookie OT Cyrus Kouandjio "has not been the player the team was expecting when they selected him in the second round" of May's draft.

Buscaglia reports Kouandjio has been outplayed by both incumbent RT Erik Pears and seventh-round pick Seantrel Henderson. Kouandjio seemed to be penciled in to Buffalo's starting right tackle job when he was drafted, but Pears appears to be comfortably ahead of him on the depth chart. Kouandjio could also fall behind Henderson when LT Cordy Glenn (illness) gets cleared.

Well, Henderson isn't your typical 7th round pick. If he had his head on straight, he could have been a second day pick pretty easily. Still, Bills can't afford not to have a good season after sending their first rounder to Cleveland.

Isn't all of this against the Saints D? I need more data......

I don't. I think Cooks is not only going to be better than Sammy Watkins or anyone else in the draft, but I think he'll be better than any receiver in the 2013 draft too. And probably 2012 (although Michael Floyd is already a load; he's set the bar pretty high).
