the game is streaming on Bluejackets.com by the way. They are showing the arena feed and laying over the radio broadcast. So we get to see bubble soccer between periods and kiss cam, crowd shots and everything. Arena looks half full.

They have showed two of my goalie students sitting together like four times so far. I can't wait for Saturday to tell them I saw them on Kiss Cam. They weren't, but they don't know that.

For my fellow Wet Coasters, Sportsnet 360 is showing the Sharks - Canucks game...

Who has Jordan Subban in the pre-season pool? Looked a little like his big brother on that blast from the point.

Jackets win 2-0 on an empty Netter by Cam Atkinson. Bob handed off to Dansk for the third. Bob finished the night with 30 saves and Oscar stopped another 12.

Goal and a Helper for Michael Chaput, whoever that is. Brandon Dubinski did his best to ensure he is still not on the Penguins' Xmas card list. And Hartnell's status with the Penguins is also confirmed.

So after the Sabres get shutout in their first game, then end up getting a shutout win over the Canes, and score a couple of goals as well.

Pretty good game out of the rookies, and Enroth played the whole game to get the 35 save shutout.

Mark Pysyk left the game less than a minute into his 1st shift with an upper body injury, but Jordan Staal left with a serious leg injury.

You could hear him screaming on the ice before he was helped back to the dressing room.

I hope it's nothing too serious.

The Kraft Hockeyville game goes tonight in Sylvan Lake, AB with the Coyotes taking on the Flames. Both CBC and Sportsnet 360 will carry the game (Rick Ball and Kelly Hrudey with the call).

Gorges spoke with Bill Hoppe about the incident, and his immediate concerns about Staal:

“The puck got moved up to him,” he said. “I stepped in front of him to try to separate him from the play. We got kind of tangled up. He tried to grab around me to switch positions. Next thing I know, he falls. He must’ve gotten tangled up, and I went right over top of him.

“It was one of those plays, where as soon as I landed on him, I heard him scream. I knew right away something must’ve hurt him. I mean, he’s a pretty tough guy. A guy like that doesn’t lay on the ice for nothing. I knew something was wrong right away. I was kind of on his back side. The ref came to me and told me it looked pretty ugly. It’s kind of one of those scary plays.”

Josh Gorges on breaking Jordan Staal’s leg: ‘I heard him scream’
