Howson has really helped a lot of teams.

Just not his own.

First off: I don't WANT to be favorites. Second off: did these people LOOK at our D? I'm not worried about the goalie situation. I think having Voukon is helpful with shortened year. But seriously, two of our top four had atrocious years last year (Martin, Orpik) and we'll likely depend on rookies to help out.

pre-season odds (eyeroll for NHL) are fun talking points, but other than that... they're pretty useless. I'd love to know how much vegas paid out on the LA Kings from last season. My guess... probably not very much.

That's the reason why we need to start jumping on these. ;)

$1000 on the Sharks @ 20/1. If they were ever going to win one, odds are it would be in a tainted(*) season. :thumb:

Let's not forget how these lines are set: Books gauge the betting public and set the line to encourage equal amounts of money on both sides of the coin. This isn't who they think is going to win.

It's pretty impressive though that, as a massive human algorithm, we humans get it close/right a freakish amount of the time. As individuals, though, we suck. The best gamblers out there click at just over 50%.

Jump carefully my friend. As vcash astutely warns... Don't lose your shirt

For my money, Carolina and NJ look like good payouts if they bring home lord Stanley. In this shortened season, I could see it. Same for Calgary. I love the vet goalie factor.

The Staal - Staal - Semin line will league the league in points, shorthanded goals, people named Staal, and slapfights.

Book it.

Yeah not only those 2 but Lovejoy and Engelland in a top 6 aren't too warm and fuzzy either.

I guess they didn't watch the playoff series last year when they made these predictions. The only difference is minus Michalek in the d-core.
