Long jumpers are the worst, and he's cut down.
LeBron James is shooting 55.5% for the year this season. His current streak is 136-225 (60.4%) over his last 12 games. He had only one sub-50% game in that span, a 14-31 shooting in a 100-98 loss to the Celtics. His shooting has gone up every year but once where he went up by 0.8% and then down 0.4%.
I was curious to see whether he is just picking his shots better or is shooting much better. Here's what I found:
Compared to last year, in:
0-2 feet shots: shooting 2% better and attempting 2% more of his shots from this distance.
3-9 feet shots: shooting 3.5% worse and attempting 0.1 percent more shots from this distance.
10-15 feet shots: shooting 4.8% worse but attempting 2 percent fewer shots from this distance.
16-3-Pt shots: 3.6% better but attempting 3.8 percent fewer shots from this distance.
3-PT shots: shooting 14% better and attempting 3.5 percent more shots from this distance.
Don't know what to conclude from this. Obviously he is shooting better. And his two worst category distances are lowered in attempts, but the percentage shot has increased and decreased.
I have the number if you'd like to see them, but if it's ehh, it'd be easier not to post it.
145-236 (61.4%) now. 15-26 (57.7%) on 3-PT shots. His next project should be his free-throw shooting. 73.8% for the season.

"While digesting that shooting statistic, consider that James put up 123 points over the last four games on just 59 shots. If you're trying to figure out how that's possible, just know that it means he's barely missed and also hit a bunch of 3-pointers and a bunch of free throws."
"What's been remarkable with James' recent surge is it doesn't have an obvious root. This is the seventh consecutive season James has increased his shooting percentage, another one of those factoids that sounds reasonable but gets more impressive the more you consider it."
LeBron James continues his red-hot shooting streak
What's better, red-hot or white-hot?
White hot is hotter, but racist. Unless you're Russian, than red is racist, too. Yellow obviously is bad, too. Blue is safe, I think, unless you're in cartoon land (or Toon Town).

157-254 (61.8%) and 16-28 (57.1%). Going 1/2 on 3 point shots actually hurt his percentage in this streak (14 games).
I started awhile before the current streak. If cut down, it is 55-77 (71.4%) and 9-15 on 3s (60%) for the last 5 games.
Or 45-61 (73.8%) and 8-13 (61.5%) for the last 4 games.
James made his first five shots, which left him at 42 for his last 52 attempts from the floor to that point, a ridiculous 81-percent clip.

Now, he's 168-269 (62.5%) and 17-31 (54.8%) for the last 15 games. He went 1-3 today, so that lowered his percentage.
I started awhile before the current streak. If cut down, it is 66-92 (71.7%) and 10-18 on 3s (55.6%) for the last 6 games.
Or 56-76 (73.7%) and 9-16 (56.3%) for the last 5 games.
I did.
Pop Quiz: What, according to Bill Russell, is his best award he's ever received?
Spoiler Alert, don't read if you don't want a hint: I would have this in another thread, but if I did, it would be obvious the answer.
