Looking like Philly and NYR.

Two thoughts (if this happens), just like last year, it's stupid that they're putting a team in it that's already been in it. And second thought, isn't it the West's turn? Article I read said it would be January 2nd.

The rumors of the Rags backing out were pissing me off. Glad to see they should be in it after all.

Avery and Torts will be fun, and I guess I wont mind seeing the other team too.

Interesting note: can't play at Linc if there's an NFL season, right? Eagles have a home game against the Skins on New Years Day. Citizen's then?

The NHL just boggles my mind some times. The Pens given a second classic 3 years after their first...the Flyers given their second only 2 years after their first. Does this make ANY sense? I'm sensing a real Pennsylvania bias

The thing is...are a lot of people going to have the 2nd off? If not you can't make it an afternoon game. The night game thing basically worked out last year, but it's certainly a different affect.

Well I do tihnk that it should at least be moving to the West, who else are they going to give it to that hasnt been in it yet? Lets not forget it is a "Classic"

I would just like to see the NHl grow a pair and go at it with the NFL. We wont get anywhere if we show that we'll be their bitch. However knowing that wont I happen I expect a night game also, which I would prefer anyway.

Yeah I know...but you gotta spread the love a bit, right? I enjoyed both Classics the Pens were in, but the first one was certainly more special. Probably because of the atmosphere, being the first, and...well, winning, but after you've seen your team in it once, it's not quite as cool. They gotta expose other markets. It would attract a lot of fans no matter where the market is. Just in reading the wikipedia page they speculate that 2013 will be at the Big House...so Detroit would HOST again. Seems like they only want to use the Original 6 teams (5 of 6 have participated in an outdoor game already) and the big 3 teams right now. Buffalo is the ONLY "different" type team that's participated. But they have the market for that.

Also, even though they moved the game...College Football games will be on Monday too. When NYD falls on a Sunday, they move to Monday. Soooo...there's still that to deal with.

With the Classic becoming the NHL's big event now I just cant see them taking a risk on other markets unless they're sure it will be a success. I think the Wild could make for a good game, but for someone who isnt a diehard I dont tihnk they are going to want to watch Backstrom like they would Ovechkin/Crosby/Chara/Miller

Duh. It's a business. Go into Dash's Crosby/OV thread and see how many Minnesota Wild players are top 20 in Jersey sales.

Well yeah, that is my point. I would still like to see the Wild, but it is just easier to recycle teams.

I guess from a business standpoint it makes sense. There are still some other talents they can hit up in the West. LAK have an exciting squad, SJS are probably deserving, you get the point. They just need a northern friend to host.
