something is wrong with the offense...

It is called no Mohammed Sanu.

-------------------------------

In the 3 games Sanu played during our second half of the season, the offense averaged a score of 31 points a game, while averaging 366 yards per game.

Since Sanu got hurt, we have played 5 games. The offense has averaged 17.6 points per game and only 276 yards per game.

------------------------------------

Dalton in the 3 game stretch with Sanu, threw 9 TD's and 0 INT's with throwing 4 TD's to Sanu.

Dalton in the 5 games stretch since Sanu got hurt has thrown 4 TD's, 5 INT's while only throwing two TD's to WR's not named AJ Green.

------------------------------------

During those 3 games, Sanu only caught 11 passes for 98 yards, but he also had 4 TD's. He was also used as a RB and was in on some trick plays.

Since Sanu has been hurt, we have not run any trick plays really and the offense has looked predictable.

------------------------------------

AJ Green while playing opposite Sanu during that 3 game span was averaging 5 catches a game with about 96 yards per game and .67 TD's per game while averaging 19 yards per catch and a long of 56 yards.

AJ Green since Sanu got hurt in that 5 game stretch has averaged 6 catches per game for about 66 yards per game and .20 TD's per game while averaging 11 yards per catch and a long of 21 yards.

------------------------------------

I think our offense will be fine next year with Sanu opposite Green, and have Jones and Hawkins underneath, along with Gresham at TE, and things will be just fine if the offensive line gives Dalton some time to throw.

Mohammed Sanu getting hurt really hurt our offense in the last 5 weeks regardless of how good anyone thinks Jones has stepped up in his place.

QBR is an absolute joke. 4 of the QB's who led their teams to the playoffs are outside the top 10. 2 are ranked 22nd & 25th in the league. LOL

Alex Smith played so well he lost his job, yet he's ranked 7th.:L

I think even Eli Manning would say he had an off year & he's ranked 10th. The stat geeks went to far with this system.

I'd like to add one to the list as well:

In the 3 games Sanu played, we played the Giants (sometimes), Chiefs, and Raiders abysmal defenses. They have among the worst pass defenses in the league.

In the 5 games since, we played San Diego, Dallas, Philly, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore, all of whom have much much better pass defenses.

Symantics. Fact is, even before those 8 games, Dalton was playing average at best. I think Sanu helped open up Green and the field a little bit more. I know the quality of team was not like world beaters, but the offense just looked so much different with Sanu in there, regardless of who the teams were.

We beat Washington with Sanu also. Sanu only played one snap in that game and only created 7 points from outside of 70 yards. Sanu is not a burner, but he is a difference maker t hat creates match up issues because of his size and versatility.

How is that semantics? Strength of opposing defenses absolutely has a bearing on how well an offense plays. Furthermore, all of these stats fit right into Dalton's 2 years and counting history of playing well against bad defenses and bad against good defenses.

But if it gives you hope, then go ahead and believe this offense goes as Sanu goes.

And Sanu is a good player, but he does not create matchup issues, at least not yet.

That is fine. I will. I think Sanu made a huge difference in this offense. I would not say he is more valueable than Green or Dalton, etc. but when he was in there, the offense looked unbeatable. Not saying it would always be like that, but I think he could make a big difference.

So if we are drafting, I am not concerned about a WR being a pick in our first few rounds is all I am saying. You can't accept that, then that is up to you.

I really like the Sanu pick, he's a special athlete, but I think we're giving him too much credit based on too little information.

It does appear to me that its not as easy to overpower him as Jones though.

But that is not all you were saying. You responded to someone saying the offense is messed up with "it is called no Mohammed Sanu."

I disputed that and only that.

Dispute any given piece of information you wish to, I am not going to argue with you as my point stands. Like it or not.

or you could generalize it saying, lack of an experienced #2 receiver.
Jones might have a future at the position, but its not like defenses are shitting their pants yet.

I somewhat agree we miss Sanu, but I think over all, Dalton is sputtering and the running game isn't helping. He can't make up for the lack of an effective rushing attack.

So far, I like Sanu better than Jones. Jones obviously has talent as well, but doesn't seem to have as consistent hands.

One thing I'd also like to find out about both is how large of a catch radius they have. That could set one apart from the other. Neither has really had the opportunity to display it yet, at least from my recollection.

Dalton has been sputtering lately, and he's been the biggest issue by far for the lack of offense recently. He's holding the ball too long and he's not connecting downfield with AJ, either throwing the ball long or out of bounds too often. He's due.

yea, Sanu is my favorite. I'd go out and get a Sanu jersey, but I'm sure that would jinx him.

Sanu's ability to catch the contested pass when well covered is a huge asset, especially around the goal line where defenses really tighten up just because they don't have so much room to cover. He's really missed. I can't wait to see how he does against the better defenses next year. But the biggest problem the offense has right now is the recent inablilty to run. Dalton is not good enough (at least yet) to carry an offense that can't establish the run. Hopefully they can fix that for the upcoming playoff game.
