This from a tweet by Chris Johnston of the Canadian Press:

"Another poorly kept NHL secret is the 2012 draft going to Pittsburgh. It's happening."

Coooooool beans! Definitely an event which would be neat to check out. Hopefully I'll be home to get in on this stuff.

Why don't they just hold it in Edmonton every year?

Hahahahahaha, seriously. I'm just excited for a new event to check out. I think it's probably because of the small influx of 1st rounders from the Western PA region last year that sparked the decision.

I keep saying I'm gonna get to some different events, meet-n-greets, golf outings and such...But by the time I add up the bill for the trip, I always come to the conclusion that I would rather go to an extra game or two.:noidea:

The draft itself always seemed like it would be an extremely boring event to sit though. Waiting 10 minutes for a team to pick a player, while your only entertainment in between is to watch a few thousand people in suits. At least at home I can do other things while the draft is going on. JMO

Very true...but having a lot of hockey talent/personnel around town is cool.

The last entry draft in Pittsburgh featured Jumbo Jim getting drafted first.... Might be a hard act to follow..

Here are some of the guys currently expected to go high at that draft:

2012 McKenzie's Top Prospects

Can't say I'm too familiar with any of the names at this point, but I'm sure by Christmas time a lot of these names will sound more familiar to a lot of us.

The 2012 draft is considered deeper than this past draft. Yakupov is considered to be a future star in the NHL. He finished 4th in the OHL in scoring last season with 49G 52A 101PTS.

I'm sure the Oilers are looking forward to adding his services.

If they say the new class is really good, I have no reason not to believe them.

I'm really excited to see the Tavares, Duchene, Kane, Hedman class start really breaking out this year. That's probably the class that I had been most excited about these last few years.

I was at the draft in Buffalo when Lindros was picked. My son got some great pictures because we were close to him when he was selected.
