2010-2011 NHL Final Standings

This is just for shits and giggles. I did a little calculating of the teams games' remaining and created a multiplier based half on how the team has played over the course of the season and half on how the team has played in their most recent 10 games. I used this to calculate how many points the teams would earn in their remaining games and where that would place them at the end of the year.

And yes, yes, I know it doesn't account for strength of schedule, home vs. away games left, etc. etc. I just wanted to see what it would come up with for something that took only 20 minutes or so to build. It will be interesting to see how the playoff teams and rankings look by comparison in another month or so. Here they are...

LOL. Yes and no. I think things could change a lot but when the dust settles at that arbitrary 82 number things will be similar to what they are now.

In 20 minutes it's awesome, hence my applause.

If we are going to get to the nitty-gritty, I think the Rangers fall out of the top 8. I also think Washington takes the # 1 seed.

In the West, I think Phoenix recovers ahead of Minny.

Points taken, but I assure you the 82 games is arbitrary - it is the number of games that are in an NHL season.

It will be fun to see how close to reality this model is. I only assure you this model is closer to reality than Charlie Sheen, and he spends a fair amount of reality with "models."

I do like the playoff matches in the west

- Nucks have to exercise some demons in Minny (but should be able to pull it off)
- Detroit steps on LA, but the Kings inflict some forechecking damage
- San Jose fucks Dallas. this one gets ugly.
- Chicago vs Calgary..... this is the one to watch... all out WAR.
