This team was essentially built DURING the season. The opening day lineup featured Rowand, Nate, Panda, Molina, and DeRosa, each of whom either were not on the WS roster, or played very minor rolls.

They never faced an elimination game the entire season.

First World Series championship in San Francisco, and first for the org in 56 seasons.

Rally thong, Panda, Ross is Boss / Sorry Doc, PTMFB, Cain's 20+ scoreless IP, Posey/Bumgarner graduations...

2010.

That pitching was dominant.

Bad first...

Game 6. Ball flip. Mueller after the deadline. Shinjo.

The good...

First World Series appearance since the earthquake. Teh Lord.

This offense was pretty sick. Bonds, Kent, Aurillia, Santiago. The pitching was decent. Schmidt, Reuter, Nen. Much like 2012, the starting 5 started all but 4 games. They were not as dominant, but all horses. The pen was good, anchored by Nen with Worrell and Rodriguez holding the setup jobs.

What type of rolls? Barrel? Your point stands, but Nate wasn't in the opening day starting lineup - Bowker was the starting RF for a week or so. Later, Bowker got turned into Javier Lopez.

2002 by a whisker. They were poorly coached in the playoffs. They had too much offense and a decent enough defense. Their pitching was weaker than 2010's, but the 2010 lineup was meh. This is a close, close call imho.

2010 and it's not even close. Just the greatest San Francisco Giants team of all time, and always will be. We were the Cubs before this season, we were just happy if we had a winning record and the dodgers sucked - actually we were all busy pissing and moaning about Sabean and horrible signings and 103 wins and 2002...

2002 was great (except that it sucked) but... Clouded with roids and clouded by the worst defeat of all time. 2010 no clouds all sunny skies. 2002 a kick in the nuts and it stole your girlfriend. 2010 euphoria followed by headboard banging til dawn.

I've left 2002 in the dusty chest in the basement with the rest of that era. 2010 was the greatest year ever and is all bright and shiny up on the mantle.

I loved the 2002 team, good combination of offense and pitching, plus the greatest of all time (or nearly so). But, yeah, can't get past game six.........fucking Dusty and his ball flip......so it's got to be the 2010 team.

So a summary before I add the poll...

2010 has 100% of the heart, even though in a 100 game series, 2002 would probably win about 60?

I wanted the 2002 team to win so badly, and it was like a perfect storm brewing through the postseason. I remember the series with Atlanta was a tough one that went to game 5, and then they just steamrolled through the Cardinals. The face of La-Doucha, everything about that Giants team was fit for a world series championship, and they had it in their grasp...OMFG...Fucking Dusty....

So, I know this is was not in the poll...But if I were to trade a world series loss in 2010 for a 2002 win, I think I would do that trade. Maybe. No doubt a 2002 win would've been legendary, with Teh Lord banging out homeruns in the coming seasons for the record.

The only therapy to quell 2002 is that the Angels haven't won shit since then. The Giants? 2010, 2012 and possibly more to come: Game over you rally monkey twats. I think I can finally push that memory down the pipe, (even more so after that Cincy victory against Dusted).

Winning is too awesome. 2010.

I am voting on emotion. I was living in Michigan at the time of the '02 season, so had no one to share the experience with. in '10, I had some neighbors, some family, and you guys.

On top of that, a win vs a loss...

I've always wondered this, do you think that if the Giants had won the 2002 World Series, there would be a complete cloud over it because of how easy it is for everyone to point at Barry for steroids? Would it have been a tainted title?

As far as we know, 2010 was a clean feel-good story about a bunch of likable knuckle-heads who rode on cloud nine all the way to the first championship in San Fran history. That itself gets my vote.

***I'm not saying that I'm glad 2002 didn't win, I wish Barry could've gotten a ring in his career. But it made 2010 that much sweeter.

Idont think it would have been any more tainted than the victory by the Roid Monkeys is - or any other championships from that era. I think the Angels actually had more guys on roids than we did. We just had the best one.

But I am glad we won the right way in 2010 and 2012. It does make it sweeter for me.
