Meh. You win a whole lot over a long period of time but the individual seasons aren't impressive. Whatever.

2011 Cardinals beat some really good teams in the playoffs. I think they'd have a very good chance against most of the teams ahead of them. 2006 Cardinals are in the right spot.

I’d pick the 2007 Red Sox that swept my Rockies. They’re also 7th all time in Team bWAR
Here is an image of the Top bWAR Teams I put together. It is subjective though since it was seek & search. IMG_1574.png

That 2007 Red Sox pitching staff gets slept on. A team that leads the AL while playing half of their games at Fenway Park is pretty impressive. The rotation was great, but the bullpen was pretty lights out.

Also this Yahoo list is something. Putting the 2022 Astros at #12 is laughable, especially with the 2008 Phillies at #3? We can talk about signgate, but that was 3 years prior to the 2022 season and they won 106 games with a matching pythag. We're talking about a team with a 110 OPS+ and a team ERA+ of 132 (also Greg Maddux' career ERA+)

I got some issues with this lol

The 2000 Yankees were the last team to not only repeat, but three-peat, and won the last 2 games of in my opinion an unbreakable record of 14 straight wins in the world series. They were still the dynasty Yankees. They played just well enough to win the division, then flipped the switch once the post-season started. Having them at #22 is ridiculous.

If I'm eyeballing these list right then the bottom 3 are the 2020 Dodgers, 2006 Cardinals and 2014 Giants.

2013 Red Sox seem massively underrated by the original list.

I'm guessing the 60 game schedule due to COVID in 2020 is the reason why the 2020 Dodgers are near the bottom.

I guess my general issue with this is that its just relitigating the initial odds on the playoff games. If the Cardinals teams outplayed better teams then what does that say about the list?

That 2020 Dodgers team also had two 106 win teams as bookends (not to mention a 111 win season in 2022). They might not have sustained a .700+ winning percentage, but I don't think it's a stretch to suggest they finish somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-110 wins again. The 2020 Dodgers are probably a better team than most of the teams ahead of them IMO, but it's hard to put them up there given the smaller sample sizes. I think people dismissing that title is silly.

I don't think the original list (in the link) has any coherent basis for their rankings, just seems to be a personal list. Not sure how I'd rank the 2013 Red Sox, but that group of position players was rather impressive. Eleven players with 1+ WAR, eight with 2+ WAR, and three with 5+ WAR is considerably deep. They had only one player with 100+ plate appearances accrue negative WAR, and that was JBJ with 107 PA. 11/12 players with 200+ PA had an OPS+ above 105. That year was just a perfect storm of good seasons for the Sox. As for the pitching, the rotation was competent and the bullpen was very good. They were also aided by some very good defense, particularly by Ellsbury/Pedroia/Victorino (wish he played for the Sox sooner than he did, he was made for Fenway's RF)

ehh, I'll disagree. They had a team OPS+ of 103 and a team ERA+ of 102. Do I think they underachieved and they were better than their results? Probably. We still have to look at what they actually did though. They feel like an earlier version of the 2006 Cardinals
