1993 we were 4-12
1994 we were 3-13
1995 we were 6-10
1996 we were 9-7, first winning season in four years.
1997 we were 8-7-1
1998 we were 6-10

Sorry but the issues started far before Snyder.

If you can’t figure it out when it is clearly posted, then I can’t help you.

nah, you aren't the smartest man in the room... I hate to break it to you

this is mind numbingly stupid stance. Why didn't you go back a year further in making your point?

I think it's actually worse than what the author of the article writes.

For me personally, I am done with the "watching because I love the team so much that I'll suffer with them," aspect of my fandom.

Sure, I'll tune in enough times to get a good read on how suck the Redskins are going to be that day, and when it is clear that they'll suck for the day, I'll switch - without any regret - to a more enjoyable team.

Like the Ravens.

For this week's debacle against the giants, that was all of about 10 minutes of football.

I'm not gonna watch a minute of the redskins loss to the Patriots this sunday.

Worse than that: even if the Redskins were somehow able to pull out a win against the Patriots (which they clearly won't) - it STILL wouldn't move the dial for the next game.

"Hate watching?"

That faded in the rear-view mirror a few years ago. Now it's 100% apathy.

No, the issue that this franchise is suffering from today is a cultural issue that begins and ends with Snyder.

Gibbs held on to a number of aging veterans and gave up a lot for Riggs while he became a goaline back. All of this was agaisnt the wishes of Bethard who left because of it.

An aging team, losing your HOF GM and then your HOF coach would be a major setback for any team. It's been 20 years though. We have seen the Eagles go to the Super Bowl with two completely different teams in that span. We have seen the Rams go to the Super Bowl with two completely different teams in that span.

It doesn't take 20 years to build a winner. We're not even talking about the pipe dream that is, winning consistently.

Which begs the question:

How many of you people would be moved to care about the redskins - to move into passive caring (as opposed to the zeal that was the opening clip circa 1983 RFK "WE WANT DALLAS!") - even if the Redskins did fire everybody they should, INCLUDING Bruce Allen?

Personally, it wouldn't move the needle at all until The Danny came out and publicly declared he wasn't going to play any role in the team AND he hired a no-nonsense, my-way-or-the-highway GM.

Since that won't happen, I can't say that I will be any more excited to see what comes next after firing Jon Gruden, even if they also fire Bruce Allen.

I likely am.

It is a mind-numbingly stupid stance to say if you can’t read plain English, I am not going to spell it out?

Why didn’t I go back further? Maybe because it has no bearing on the bad days that occurred from 1992-1998 before Snyder owned the team.

Be careful GK , if you are too toxic he may take his ball and go home ( and of course come back after his temper tantrum is over )

But I guess he saw we moved on from him , got new posters , and he wasn’t as important as he thought he was

Absolutely agree with this ^^^^

Few if any here, remember George Preston Marshall, and the putrid teams that he sold as professional football. This lasted until 1974 when Jack Kent Cooke became majority owner. Marshall suffered from a stroke but remained principal owner until his death (1969) Edward Bennet Williams controlled the franchise from 1962 through 1974 when minority owner Jack Kent Cooke took full control of the franchise. When Cooke died he left the franchise to his foundation. His son attempted to purchase the team but was outbid by Daniel Snyder.

Here are the total win-loss records of each owner:

1. George Preston Marshall } Owned for 33 years, 180 wins, 201 losses and 18 ties. There were 3 play-off games won, 4 play-off games lost and 2 NFL championships won.

2. Edward Bennett Williams } 5 years, 43 wins, 24 losses and 3 ties. There were 2 play-off games won and 3 play-off games lost with one loss in the Super-Bowl.

3. Jack Kent Cooke years } Owned for 28 years, 250 wins, 169 losses and 3 ties. There were 18 play-off wins, 10 play-off losses and 3 Super-Bowls won.

4. Daniel Snyder years } Owned 21 years, 139 wins, 184 losses and 1 tie. There were 2 play-off wins and 5 play-off losses.

Totals are... 612 wins, 578 losses and 25 ties. There were 25 play-off wins, 22 play-off losses, 2 NFL championships won,
4 NFL championships lost, 3 Super-Bowls won and 2 Super-Bowls lost.

John Kent Cooke was sort of owner as Executor of Jack Kent Cooke's estate in 97 and 98.

True that this started before Snyder as gk pointed out. kbso correctly detailed the episode with Bethard and his leaving because Gibbs insisted on keeping aging veterans. As much as I loved Joe Gibbs he left at the right time. The team was old and they were drafting people like Desmond Howard.

GPM had a near .500 record and two championships but that happened when Sammy Baugh was here.

Dan is the worst owner in Redskin history. It isn't even close. Dan and Marshall can duke it out for which was the worst human of the two.
