Regardless of how the series plays out on Wednesday, I'm very proud of the way we've played this series.

You should be. It's been a great series. The Caps of the reg season who were missing Green and Backs for a lot of games isn't the same team as the healthy Caps team in the playoffs. If Backs and green don't miss so much time, the Caps probably are 2nd or 3rd in the east with the division title.

This has been one hell of a series. Arguably the best series in the first round so far.

1 point for getting the team that wins correct
1 point for getting a team's goal tally correct for that game (+1 more if you get both right)
2 points if you get the correct game that ends the series (regardless of the winner)
-1 points for each extra game picked that is not necessary

Bruins 3 Caps 2
Bruins 6 Caps 3
Caps 3 Bruins 1
Bruins 2 Caps 1
Caps 4 Bruins 0
Bruins 5 Caps 2

Vadered got the winner right on 3 games and got the correct goal total once (Caps did score 4 in game 5). 4 points total.

Boston 2 Washington 1
Washington 3 Boston 0
Washington 5 Boston 3
Boston 3 Washington 1
Boston 4 Washington 2
Washington 2 Boston 1
Washington 3 Boston 2

I got the winner right 2 times (first two games, then zippy!) and got ZERO scores correct. :L But I did pick the correct number of games in the series, so I have 4 points. So I win if I get a goal total or the winner right on Wednesday... really hoping the latter happens for reasons aside from this poorly attended contest.

I'd like to come on here and say the Caps are going to win tomorrow. We are 4-1 in Boston this year. Teams that win the regular season set win 77% of the time since the lockout. We've played really on both ends of the ice. We've shown a lot of heart. We've had timely scoring from the big guns and role players alike. We've had outstanding goaltending. We've played good team defense both forwards and blue liners alike. Regardless of tomorrow's outcome, nobody could objectively look at how these teams are playing in this moment, in these games, and say one is really better or worse than the other. Both deserve to win. One has to lose.

But I'm honestly just kind of dreading tomorrow's game. I've been watching and cheering on the Caps for about 25+ years now. We're almost always in the playoffs... and we almost always go nowhere. We are 2-8 in Game 7s, all of which I've bore witness to. We have gone out in the first round in 5 of our last 7 playoff "runs." Not that a series that happened in 1987 or 1992 or even 2010 has much relevance on THIS team or THESE circumstances. Braden Holtby is not bound to the fate of Don Beaupre. Alex Ovechkin, for better and worse, is not the same guy he was in 2009. We are not tied to suffer the same fate as those squads before.

But it just seems like history is always sitting there, staring at us with a wry smile, letting us know that even though we are excited and doing the right things, and even though we have been loyal fans and suffered repeatedly and deserve some shining moments, a deep playoff run, and maybe even a Cup, it will always be there to fuck us directly in the pooper.

Here's to hoping that changes tomorrow and sparks something bigger than just a first round series win. But I won't be surprised if that doesn't happen because I've seen it SO, SO many times before.

Sincerely - A Washington Capitals' fan

I love ference, I used to watch him every week when the Flames AHL team was in Omaha. I'm pretty sure he fought every game.I was extremely happy he got his name on the cup.

AHL was the shit, and I miss it.
