Michael Malone still sucks… Unless you’re in a rebuild like Toronto, the team that hires him will regret it.

They don’t even use MPJ at the end of games anymore I guess

Media after the game asked Jokic what could he do to help get MPJ more engaged in the game. His answer was "If you’re not going to be engaged right now, I think you’re not supposed to play this sport.

He doesn't flat out say MPJ isn't fully engaged in this game or in some games, but I think the message is clear that this isn't ok. You are a max contract player and you give that level of play in the playoffs?!

What has he done for you lately? 2023 title was like over a year ago!

It sucks how quickly things can change. Unfortunately for the Nuggets Malone went from a fired up leader that convinced the Nuggets they were disrespected at every turn leading them to a Championship to then trying to continue that same conversation and the players becoming turned off by his message. It will be interesting to see how the Nuggets do now that they are truly player led with Jokic in many ways doing the duel role of best player in the league and coach.

He’d be a fucking horrible fit for the Spurs.

I’ve seen at least on Bulls social media page call for Billy Donovan to be fired so they can hire Malone… That would be a horrible move as well.

That's the "problem" with winning a title. It becomes the standard and that's hard to live up to.

I often tell colleagues that intensity cause tension. And that’s a good thing, until it isn’t. There almost always comes a breaking point with intense people (and make no doubt that Malone is intense) because their personalities can never let up.

I might have to use that quote here some time with people. It is a very good description of the situation. Malone is a good one for an organization that has been stuck in neutral and needs someone to light a fire under the players. But you are right there is a point that runs too hot and explodes in disaster. Thankfully for the Nuggets they have the best player in the world to help balance the ship now that Malone is gone.

Yep, it's why for some coaches, no matter how good they are, things always seem to end badly or at least sooner than one would think given the winning. Eventually, they just wear everyone down.

The only "intense" coach that I can think of that avoided that was Pat Riley and that's because he was smart enough to know that was going to happen and would leave before it did.

It's also why Jerry West's tenure as a coach was very short...he has actually said that he felt sorry for the players that had to play for him. lol

Nugs win the title…he still sucks

You’re wrong
Frank Vogel won a title and has been fired four times... Not sure what exactly your point is here.

Michael Malone deserves tremendous credit for building up our program to what it is today, but as he's proven in recent seasons, he makes good teams worse with his short rotations and quick hooks on certain players..

The team that hires him can't have any sort of immediate expectation in place (i.e. the Spurs or the large market Bulls)...

I think either Toronto or New Orleans would be the best fits for him right now.

Vogel didn’t win 2 in 3 years. I’m saying if he wins another one…you will stick to your guns. He is winning with no depth. Sure Jokic is ridiculous but still…a loss in for example the conference series is a nice season for this squad. They were a mess earlier.

I can’t blame him unlike Thibs bc Malone has a less than stellar bench. That happens when you have a large chunk of cap that goes to 4 guys and one of those guys is getting few minutes.
