Between 2011 and 2014 the Cleveland Cavaliers had 3 number one picks in the NBA Draft

in todays NBA that should get you more than one Championship
the twolves have had a ton of high lotto picks and never won anything

the Thunder drafted 3 hall of famers and 3 mvps in a span of 3 years and never won title.

the sixers had 3 #1 overalls in fultz, embiid and simmons, plus other high picks- at least another #4 and other top 10 picks and thus far have won nothing.

Embiid was the third pick in the 2014 Draft, not first.. And the Sixers are the #1 seed in the East this year

Plus all three teams you mentioned have a better future than the Cavs.

At least you got the one title out of it with the guy you said would never win another title again yet won one with the Lakers only a few months ago.

Sixers aren’t done yet though. Also, Embiid was the 3rd pick in that draft. Everybody forgets that because Embiid is the most dominant 5 in the game but Wiggins and Jabari Parker went before Embiid. In fact your squad drafted Wiggins and packaged him for Love if I recall.

And the 6ers traded up for the first pick to get Fultz.

They were actually quite unlucky to only win the lottery once during all those seasons of tanking.

Embiid was damaged goods, which was why he wasn’t considered at 1.

The 6ers extended tank strategy absolutely can work. Where they messed up was not adding a 3rd star they could keep long term.

Had they fired Brett Brown and been allowed to keep Hinkie, I think they could potentially have a super team today. Their roster moves under Colangelo were awful. They had the cap space to add a max player along with Embiid and Simmons. They could have gotten a superstar and instead got Tobias Harris.

The big summer came during Colangelo Burner account Gate. They got a pity meeting from LeBron (In LA for that matter haha). Playoff P decided to shock the world and stay in OKC and the Raptors pulled a deal for Kawhi. The Sixers almost survived that when they traded for Jimmy Butler. He was that third guy. Unfortunately, Butler saw the disfunction first hand, had no faith in Brett Brown and as rumor goes, didn’t like playing with Simmons. A guy like Simmons must frustrate the fuck out of a dude like Butler. Butler made himself into an elite player despite lacking elite gifts. Simmons is a unicorn that refuses to add to his game despite the talent to do so. Tobias Harris is a nice player but not a max player. I think adding Rivers though really helped the Sixers maximize the money spent on Harris. Harris has been his best with Rivers. I like Toby but for he and Simmons this is a big year. Both guys have earned a rep for disappearing come playoff time. They need to change that narrative this season if the Sixers are going to accomplish their goals.

Had they simply fired Brett Brown at the end of the tank job, they would have had a really good chance to keep Jimmy I think.

Toby is good, don’t get me wrong, but that is tough to swallow when you could have theoretically had a player like Kawhi or LeBron.

Kawhi would have cost Simmons and LBJ didn’t give them the time of day. Ironically, Brett Brown still being there would have been an asset to get LBJ. He already had one foot out the door and LBJ could have been involved in picking the new coach.

Nah Simmons isn’t a realistic ask for a player who had just sat an entire year with a possibly debilitating injury AND made clear he wasn’t playing for San Antonio again.

What they gave for Butler was probably more valuable than what SA got for Kawhi.

And if they already had a coach like Doc in place, they would have an established culture, would perform better and therefor command more than a courtesy visit from players like LeBron.

It was tough loss for Miami. Butler just has no business shooting those 3s at the end of the game. He is shooting what? 24% on the season from 3? He needs to do what he does best and attack the rim. Did Herro even play at all in the final 8 minutes? The guy we wouldnt trade to get Lowry or possibly Harden, we arent even playing him in the close?

A lot of that had to do with bad timing or they most likely would have won more. The injuries to Kyrie and Love year 1 didn’t help. The fact that Kyrie and Lebron couldn’t get along also factored in. They also didn’t get to play a weak injured heat team to win their title at any point.

they ran into possibly the greatest team of all time that added Durant. A little tougher than a Jimmy Butler team full of injuries.

In the NBA you need good luck no matter how well you draft or pick. All things considered 1 is still better than 0, which many teams in the NBA still have.

Wow! So this is what it looks like when the Bucks aren’t shit from the 3 pt line. Miami still hasn’t lost ground yet. They need to hold serve at home and go steal game 5.
