I'll go out on a limb here and say that I've had more contact with gang members than the rest of you on this board, combined. I thought it might be interesting to speak to someone else who had some first hand knowledge about the subject.

Even given what i know, what I DON'T know about gangs could fill a couple of books.

Maybe I am, and if your question wasn't meant to be a dick head question, than I apologize, but an almost universal rule is that you don't just "leave" a street gang regardless of race, creed, or parent affiliation.

Half the guys I grew up with were either in a gang or getting recruited before puberty. 95% of those guys are either dead or in jail.

My town, when you get north of Montauk Highway, is one of the epicenters for MS-13. Not too long ago, one gang member was running a prostituion and drug ring in his auto shop.
