I hear that Silas!! The man we both need and want is Don Klosterman, the GM of the Rams from the late 60's until when the Queen Idiot inherited the team when Carroll drowned in the ocean. Klosterman stockpiled draft choices when he would trade aging but marketable vets for draft picks and we were always two-to-three deep at nearly every position due in part to an excellent scouting department and Klsoterman's uncanny ability to evaluate talented impact players that he would routinely take as the BPA. He seldom traded up or down to get a player but took the BPA who often filled a need. And by teh mid 70's we were drafting late because we were always in the divisional and conference play-offs.

That is one of the reasons we were division champions from 1969-1979. And then that Queen idiot took over and the first person she fired was Don Klosterman. Remember the John Hadl trade? Absolute brillance. Wendell Tyler, Jack Youngblood, Jim Youngblood, Isaiah Robertson, Bob Brudzinski, Jack Reynolds, Dennis Harrah, Rich Saul, Henry Ellard, and all of the many players Klosterman drafted were just unbelievable players that were championship quality. I wish we had Klosterman now instead of this frenzied, knee-jerk, anxiety-ridden, boob of Les Snead.

Exactly SJ76. We need to change the corporate philosophy with this maybe-it'll-work-2-3-years-out krap that we have been doing the last three to five years to lets-select-blue-chip-players-that-are-available-to-us-when-we-pick.

Problem is, most WR take a few years to develop, and everyone was clamoring for more weapons for Bradford. If you want quick results at WR, you either have to luck into a true stud like AJ Green, or go the free agent route. Of course, if your offensive coordinator doesn't know how to use his players, it's all for naught anyway.

Luckily, the Rams (if they trust their WRs will develop) can now draft the meat and potatoes players, LBs and DBs (especially safety) and linemen. That should definitely allow for more instant impact on the fortunes of the team, provided they choose wisely.

Honestly if we stay at #5 and #12... I still like the Rams drafting 2 Texas A&M Aggies... Jake Matthews and Mike Evans. Evans is without question going to be the best WR coming out this year. Personally after watching his play a few times, he looks to be somewhere between Julio Jones and AJ Green looked during their final seasons in the SEC.

Also, I would not draft Dix at #12 if both Watkins and Evans are gone. As good as he is, that would be a reach at #12 IMO. I like Craig Loston from LSU alot and he will be there in the 2nd

Shopson.... Let's just get whatever Bradford needs for year 5. New OCs? Check. More WRs.. Check. Second year OC. Check. Better O-line.. Check.

What a joke.

Watch Andrew Luck this week minus Reggie Wayne. Watch him make no names look good.

Evans is without question the best WR?

You haven't been watching Sammy Watkins. By far the best WR coming out. Faster than Evans, he can take it to the house from anywhere. Might be the best athlete in the draft period.

Julio and AJ?

Clayton I have to disagree.

QBs come into the league and they either make a difference or they struggle and continue to struggle. They show you right away what they have and Glennon has a lot of good players around him. If he doesn't make a big statement ths year, Tampa will not wait another year. Nobody can afford to do that, unless your team absolutely sucked like the Rams did with Bradford.
We don't really disagree that much because I think TB will draft a QB as well if only because drafting a QB isnt the setback it used to be (see Bradford's contract) and TB has a talented(ish) roster.

But I don't think you can judge all QB prospects the same way. Glennon had 'project' on him from Day 1.

I agree Glennon = project in the works. And I have not watched him play either, but with the talent around him.... TB will not put ALL their cookies in 1 basket for 2014 and roll the dice with Glennon only at QB, especially with a top pick with the QBs coming out.

Not to mention the GM in Tampa is in hot water with Freeman now gone and lost for nothing.

It's Matthews and either Watkins or Dix in the first as I see. Any body else is probably not the player we want.

Trust me SJ, I love Watkins and would not be upset if he became a Ram, but I have seen both guys play in the last 3 weeks and Evans looks like a more polished route runner, he looks stronger, he is taller and weighs more than Watkins. I have watched Evans out run 2 of the fastest DB's in college football in the last 3 weeks for very long TD's. I will admit I kinda have a man crush on Evans! Personally I think you would be splitting hairs trying to decide between them.

You obviously skimmed my post. I don't think the Rams should draft any more WRs. I think the concentration on appeasing Bradford the past two years should open up the team to draft properly this year. No point in adding more WRs that can't help right away. If the Rams are going to add a receiver, it should be a veteran. In fact, it appears that Fitzgerald may get moved in the offseason, or possibly even before the deadline. That would be the absolute perfect acquisition for the Rams if they could clear the cap space (which would likely force it to be an offseason move, not before tomorrow's deadline). Of course, the Cardinals could refuse to move Fitz within the division altogether.

If you think Shoddy's doing a good job with the offense, you might be the only one that thinks so that isn't blood related.

Good luck watching the Colts this week; they're on bye. His "no-name" receivers are all highly drafted (Heyward Bey was a 1st rounder, Hilton was a 3rd rounder, Fleener was a 2nd rounder and his teammate at Stanford). There will be some special teamers competing for the 3rd receiver spot (Lavon Brazill, David Reed), or maybe they sign a receiver or two off the practice squad (Griff Whalen, Da'Rick Rogers). Besides, I'm a huge Andrew Luck fan and would never equate Bradford with him. He's leaps and bounds better than Sam.
