They're going to call that every time it happens. Putting a shoulder down in the pile was business as usual a couple of years ago but with the concerns for player safety they're going to flag anything that looks unnecessary. Kam's a smart player and he'll make the adjustment.
Yeah it was a ticky tacky call but it will be called 99 out of a 100 times now. You just can not Do that. Some bad calls or more correctly ticky tack calls went both ways in that game but it was pretty even between the two teams in that regard, it's just Seattle got the lions share of calls against them. I saw many holding calls NOT called against the Panthers Oline.
Our Oline needs to play better, Carp looked fat and slow missing way to many blocks. I would have rather seen Moffitt playing instead of Carp.
You know the one that got me was the 15 yarder on Bennett. After watching the replay of it you can see he NEVER grabbed the facemask he wrapped his arms around his head BUT NEVER grabbed the facemask like they said. If that is a foul then look at the hit that went right to Wilsons FACE on his throw that Badwin makes a great sideline catch on. a blow to a QB's head is supposed to be illegal but they did not call that one.
Bennett never grabbed and pulled the facemask at all, not even for a half second.
There also was the intentional grounding on Wilson, that was only a few yards away from Tate, but still called. Then later, Newton throws one from inside the pocket, out of bounds with no one within 20 yards and no flag. Overall, the refs were still in preseason form, but I expect they will clean it up too.
