Holy hell, I didn't think Kirby would be back until June. This is great.
Well, it's great if they aren't rushing him. And with 3/5th of our starting rotation ailing, it is, at least, plausable, that he may be being rushed a bit. It's like this, ask yourself: if Gilbert and Miller were healthy, would they be calling up Kirby after he went 4 innings and gave up 4 runs in his last AAA start? Hopefully he was just working on shit and was unconcerned with the run and hit total.

Well, today's game really did seem like The Game No Team Really Wanted. Leads blown on both sides, a few errors...

just seemed sloppy.

But getting Kirby back for tomorrow is a bit of good news. Hopefully he's GOOD and ready.

Second? Hell, does Judge do all of the non-offense related stuff that Cal does, that nevertheless has a direct effect on the final outcome of a game?
  1. Defense
  2. pitch framing
  3. pitch calling
  4. setting the team defense for any given pitch
  5. inspiring confidence in the pitchers
  6. clubhouse leadership
  7. building positive relationships with umpires
Cal is your MVP. If he played in a high profile baseball city, there would be no argument

AAA rehab starts will never provide the same experience as MLB starts. in a rehab start, yes, they're focusing on seeing him throw a certain number of pitches of different types and checking to make sure they're mechanically sound and he's pain free through x number of pitchers at full effort. that's the only real priority. whatever the score happens to be in a literally meaningless game is way further down.

it did sound to me like they were going to be extra cautious with him and maybe do another rehab start even though they said he had the usual quota for a coming back under his belt with the last one. if it's too soon with mechanics/pain, kirby won't hesitate to voice it and urge to get himself taken out, though. he's made that pretty clear.

Last 2 games were quite ugly but got that 2 of 3 from them. Give me a split in Houston is all I'm asking for.

The way Divish made it seem, is the M’s were overly cautious with Kirby in spring. He didn’t want to go on the IL at all. Kind of the exact opposite of Miller.

Crazy to think Cal is already the best Catcher in Mariners history.
