I gotta disagree on both points, and vehemently so. If you've ever played outfield, the most difficult ball is the one hit right at you. You don't have the benefit of seeing any sort of side angle which is the biggest clue as to how far the ball is hit. Also, as the color guy here said, sometimes when the ball is hit solidly, it can have no spin, like a knuckle ball. A 200 foot knuckleball at 100 mph.Un needed dive, but I will take it.

The sun doesn't help either . Span had trouble with Ishi's ball, too.Once I saw the dive again and from a different angle, I agree he needed to dive to catch it.
However, it was "almost a banana route". It was not a banana route, just ALMOST one. He broke back on the sing and had to change his direction once he saw the ball.
