I'm just here to troll everyone
Panda's also been great defensively.
So has Pence, or at least very good

Pence is batting .474 in the series.
They've both been hitting machines. I didn't have the benefit of the stats when I answered the question, but yeah, Pence has better batting stats. Nevertheless, a case could still be made for Panda if the MVP were not Bumgarner.
just back from the SF saloon in LA. what a scene of orange and black all around. Madbum was just fantastic but what I liked most was getting to 2 of KC's big 3 out of the Pen. Psychology it does wonders for the rest of series. ONE MORE TO GO!!!
Add to that the boot by Dyson in CF of Crawford's looper that allowed Panda to score the second run. He was going to hold at third until Dyson couldn't come up with it cleanly. No error on the play, but if properly fielded, Panda wouldn't not have scored.
We can score on their relievers, and their OF defense isn't superhuman after all.
The two balls that Cabrera missed were huge defensive miss-plays as well. To see 3 bad defensive plays by the Royals, and one by the Giants (none of which were ruled as errors) was a bit surprising.
I am not sure the nerves factor is still in play in game 5. They have been dealing with this for a week now, not to mention the build up from the WC, ALDS and ALCS.
Doesn't it make sense that nerves were behind some of the defensive miscues? Or the striking out from a team that didn't do much of that?
Agreed that they've had some playoff games to calm nerves, but Yost clearly screwed up in game 4 (reliever selection) And we just pounce on screwups. And the pressure gets stronger as it goes on, all the pressure is on them game 6. It's one thing to be 'hey aren't we cute we won a wild card game' vs 'we are in the WS, just us vs them, and those guys don't get rattled'
By that logic, the Giants are in un-charted territory now as well. Both '10 and '12 were one-sided series'.

While getting 5 from Peavey would be HUGE, I don't think it is needed. If we can get 3 or 4, we are in a good position. The only pitchers not available for an inning or two would be Huddy and Bum (but I would not rule out Bum for an out or two). If Peavey goes 3, then turns it over to a specialist for 1 or 2 outs, we can hand the ball to Petit for 2 or 3 innings. If we can score 2 or 3 runs in that time frame, that's game.
This is a workable plan. The key is still Peavy and they have to make sure he's pulled when and if it becomes necessary. They can't let a 2 run deficit balloon to 5 runs because they wait a little too long. This all only works if we actually can hit Ventura this time around ...

A plausible scenario but far too complacent of playoff baseball weirdness.
