Mets-Cubs scores big rating despite four-game NLCS

NEW YORK -- The NL Championship Series had its largest television audience since 2010 despite lasting just four games.

The New York Mets' sweep of the Chicago Cubs in a matchup of big-market teams averaged 7.9 million viewers on TBS. The network said Thursday that was the most since the six-game Giants-Phillies series five years ago on Fox.

The audience was up 55 percent from last year's four-game ALCS on TBS between the small-market Royals and Orioles.

Well, yeah...New York and Chicago and the Cubs curse story. Its really a huge let down all things considered but at least it did well with ratings to a certain degree

I would've liked a longer, more nail-biting series. It's BASEBALL, man!! The more, the better!

Hey...you can't always get what you want...but at least you had the 5 gamer w/ the mets & dodgers..which ended favorably, amirite?......and now you have the ALCS going 6 & possibly 7.

Enjoy.

*btw...In my wildest dreams I never envisioned the mets sweeping the cubs in that series...but I'm beyond pleased and thankful they did.
(the longer these games drag on, the more things can go wrong and anything can happen)

back to reality for arrieta. he will have an era in the mid 4s next yr

Seriously though, he's had a pretty good ERA for the past 2-3 seasons, and he's back to "reality" after a couple of subpar outings? He's bound to compete for the Cy Young year in year out if he keeps this up. He also manages to eat a lot of innings which helps preserve their bullpen for their backend starters and the occasional bad outings. Mid 4s? Really?

just my feelings. I'm not going to pretend like I know but he just reminds me of that pitcher. he has been on fire since the all star break in 2014. I don't think his stuff is all that great. his location has been epic. he reminds me of carl pavano and estaban loaiza. I just don't see it holding up. bookmark it and make fun of me if I'm wrong.

The movement he gets on his pitches is sick. He has ACE stuff.

He had a 1.95 ERA in the first half of 2014, so him becoming a good pitcher pre-dates the 2nd half of last year.
