Yanks main objective tonight must be to get into the Houston pen by the 7th

Getting into the Houston bullpen has likely been their main objective the entire series.

I feel like the pressure has just been ratcheted up on the Astros. Maybe the hitters start pressing? Maybe Keuchel spits the bit?

Much like the weakness of Astros' bullpen, the reality of this exchange seems to be escaping you.
So, so bitter. I'm sorry you world series bound team got derailed. I guess having a great bullpen can be overrated at times.

The good news is, in seven career starts vs Yankees, Keuchel has averaged 7.33 IP/GS, so hoping to get to him by the 7th is not outrageous.

The bad new is, in those seven starts, he's 5-2 with a 1.23 ERA.

Tanaka is going to have to channel his internal Mr Miyagi tonight.

Indians' bullpen wasn't the problem in the ALDS. Indians had a great team and they ran into another great team in the playoffs at the same time that everything unraveled. Shit happens.

Doesn't change the fact that the Astros' bullpen that you were so sure was "built for the postseason" is just as shitty now as they were in the regular season, just like I told you.

In series tied 2-2 in a best-of-7, the winner of Game 5 is 41-17 in winning the series (70.7% chance of winning). Since 2000, the 4 teams that have lost are the 2011 Rangers (World Series), 2004 Astros (NLCS), 2002 Giants (World Series), and 2001 Yankees (World Series).

No team has ever won Game 5 of the ALCS, in a tied series, and lost the series (5-0).

Yankees take the lead and 30 seconds later Hayward breaks his leg.

giphy.gif

That was so nasty. The game was on in our living room, but no one was really paying attention to it. I was just about to put the kids to bed and Slink Jr said, "Dad, what happened?" This is when play had stopped and they were showing all the players/coaches/fans' faces. I rewound it, and... OH SHIT when I saw what happened.

Slink Jr said, "I don't think it's broken, I think his shoe just fell off." Yeah, that's it, kiddo. Think happy thoughts, lets go to sleep.

Isn't it crazier how much louder that Stadium is compare to 09 when we won the WS in the stadium? Crowd has been AMAZING

All about the guys they are cheering for.......The '09 Yankees were full of mercenaries, were heavily favored to win it all...This team was predicted to be a last place team, young, likeable dudes, Judge is just gotta be the easiest guy ever to cheer for

Which bullpen has the best chance of pitching in the World Series this year? The Injuns or the Astros?

:sigh:

I knew the Astros bullpen was a liability.

This series rests on Dallas and Verlander being able to repeat games one and two.

certainly proving a liability

it was so freaking gruesome! Teaches me to watch an NBA game

Word.

I'll say this though; usually I see basketball players flopping their asses off, acting like they've been shot when they take some slight contact to their ribs. That dude's face looked more disappointed than anything. He might have been in shock, but still, it made me realize that maybe not all basketball players are giant pussies.

A blurb I heard on Boomer show this morning, and it was stated as statistical fact
It's also bullshit, Dirt. If that were true, the hitting strategy versus Keuchel would have changed a long time ago. But, I'll compromise with you. I'll pretend it is true on Zig's board.

Its not easy mentally to bounce back from that, the Yankees have completely crippled that lineup......Outside of the Gurriel hit, they loaded the bases on 2 walks and a catchers interference

I have faith that Tanaka will be great, I just hope Keuchel isnt super great..........Hinch will prob let him throw 130 pitches tonight

I'm not sure if I agree with that. To me, it depends who wins the ALCS and how.

I think the Yanks can really challenge them. 6 or 7 game series IMO. They probably dominate Houston in 4 or 5
