I know he's had enormous pocketbooks to work with, but is Theo Epstein the best GM ever?

Not yet.
If Cleveland wins it, is Franconia the greatest manager ever?Fair enough. Amend the question: if the Cubs take it this year, is he the best GM ever?
Yup. They may not sweep the post-season, but the fact that they have no holes means that they will not beat themselves.Yep. I just hope Cleveland can find a way to stop the Cub juggernaut but they are just so good they seem like the rare 'best team' that wins the WS

Nah, still LaRussa
Typical White Sox fan...Nah, still LaRussa
The A's were on a 15 year draught. The Cards were what, maybe 10 years?Well, if Francona gets props for getting 2 teams to win the WS, La Russa did it too, and the second team he won 2 with. Francona can still pass him.

The Sox were at 80+ years and the Tribe is at almost 70.

Nope. Hoyers first move was trading for Rizzo.Well TECHNICALLY he's not a GM anymore, Jed Hoyer is.
And frankly, their last regime acquired a lot of the young talent they have now, like Bryant, Rizzo and Baez.
Getting Maddon though was huge. I'm sure Theo had a lot to do with that.
