He explained the scenario behind the trade with the Celtics. I suppose the 6ers could have tricked them, but Fultz was the guy most had pegged at 1 and the 6ers clearly believed they needed a guard.

As for taking Brown over Simmons?

That would have been fireable honestly. And it would have been the wrong pick.

Yes, I realize Brown is a lot better today. But as I have said before, the 6ers mistake was not in drafting Simmons at 1. It was in failing to trade him at any point during his first 5 years when he was playing at an all star level, it was clear he and Embiid weren’t a great fit and they should have known his work ethic wasn’t there.

They could have traded Simmons for a better player than Brown had they realized what they had.

Him saying it wasn’t possible is an exaggeration.

But it certainly is not realistic to say they could have drafted both.
Read again, he said the 6ers had no chance at either. That is 100% a wrong statement. Had he said the 6ers didn't want either then he'd be right.

He's a butthurt fucktard, so fuck him and his horse.

Who won’t he cook 1 on 1?

Cmon man.

I am trying to free up the best help defenders to help. It isn’t always about the 1 on 1 matchup. It is about the other matchups too.
That’s fine. I expect this to be another PJ Washington/DJJ series if that’s the route they go

Dallas is a tough team to game plan for, that is sure.

Most times I think it is best to make the superstar get 50 and take care of the others.

But Dallas has 2 elite offensive playmakers.

Think you have to hope they miss and try to outscore them.

I agree but easier said than done with how they play because teams in this league love to send help. I think both teams should be guarded the same way which is let Kyrie/Luka and Tatum/Brown go off and contain the others but that won’t happen. Both teams will send help and the others will get their share of open looks

1. Boston plays exceptional team defense. It’s really not about defending guys one on one for them.
2. Tatum and Brown are likely going to be the assignment on Luka and not Kyrie because of their length.
3. I don’t think there’s any level of “getting their ass kicked” for this Boston team.
4. Boston actually has 6 great defenders if Porzingas plays. These guys are even better in the context of team defense.

The pathway to a Dallas series win actually comes from Dallas under rated defense. The only chance a team has of beating Boston in a series is to be successful at consistently running them off the three point line. You’d rather concede paint points on dribble drive vs Celtics than to let the penetration lead to a kick out open three.

I think Dallas has a chance for sure in this potential series but it will be more about their defense of Boston.
I agree with that. I was just laughing at folks talking about Boston shutting down Dallas. The Celtics were #3 in team defense. The Wolves were #1 and the Thunder #4

Jan. 22, 2024 Celtics 119 Mavs 110
Luka 37
Kyrie 23

55% of offense

March 1, 2024 Celtics 138 Mavs 110
Luka 33
Kyrie 19

49% of offense

Celtics have held the Mavs to 110 points both times they've played this year. Defense improved against both Luka and Kyrie.

Horford will force Luka to work his ass off to score every point. White and Holiday will continually switch off on Kyrie and exhaust him. The plan is simple. Allow Luka and Kyrie to score 60 and force the remainder of the Mav score 60 more (average 120) and hope that the C's don't score their average (129).
Mavs are a different team Bro

Ken you described the plan well. Accept they will score 55%. But make it hard on them. Keep to the defense and limit the others. Lots of switching in this series

It was a good pass.

Pretty routine in all honesty though. Corner ball screen, his man fights through, Horford’s man stays under and shows up to help at the rim. Easy read for a player at that level.

The ridiculous part was Indiana leaving Horford all alone in the corner after he had already hit 6 3s.
I wouldn’t say routine, that was ridiculously accurate for keeping his stride and sticking that pass in such a big moment of the game … Tatum showing some Magic Johnson!

You won’t stop either. But you can make them exert great energy. I
Get the sense that the Mavs are
Considered the favorites if you listen to the pundits

Kyrie can take anyone including Brown 1 on 1. If the Celtics win, which they will be favored to do, it'll be because the Mav's can't stop them. But the Mavs are a lot better on defense than they were prior to the trade deadline
