That was a perfect pitch. Hill just went and got it.

Nice AB.

That, IMHO, is a hole in baseball statistics. That should be a sac.

3 runs in...

Not a solidly hit ball the entire inning.

Sammy was masterful tonight, and HE deserved to win.

But again, this game is feeling like a game the Brewers are losing. Not a game that the Giants are winning.

If this is all that Calixte can offer us, bring up Mac and let him patrol LF the rest of the season. No more jimmy-jack.
Will he ever be able to hit ML pitching??

Jeff Samardzija has 59 K and 1 BB over his last 7 starts. Samardzija is the 1st Giants pitcher since the mound was moved to its current distance in 1893 with 50+ K and 1 or fewer BB over 7 starts (via Elias Sports Bureau).

He is turning out to be a hell of a signing. Sure, he has been inconsistent in the past, but he is looking at 5 or 6 weeks now of elite, Ace-level pitching. Is this him, or is this just a prolonged crest?

He and Cueto appear to have switched jerseys.

Still, this is a spectacular run by Scrabble.

Calixte looks like another AAAA player. :tsk:

My main problem with the current regime is not giving the young guys enough of a shot to work through things.

Of course these kids are going to look raw early on, but the team can't have knee jerk reactions on such small samples, especially with a team that's looking to the future.

To my eyes, he's always been a guy with good control but bad command. He can throw strikes, but not really with precision. He tends to leave pitches over the plate and that's when he struggles. Maybe that has a lot to do with his stuff, it all moves a lot, or his mechanics. It's never been a stuff problem with him.

This recent stretch, it seems like he's had great command. Pitches still get left over the plate, but not at any out of the ordinary rate (Kershaw leaves pitches over the plate sometimes too).

Can he keep this command up? It probably has to do with his mechanics, so there will probably be a stretch where he gets out of sorts, but hopefully he's just figured out his body and can work through it quickly.
