Ain’t gunna lie. As much as I love Pence, I a man a bit irked to see him getting a start over Mac already.

I don’t like our chances in this game. But I took the over...

I was a little bothered to see him in the lineup so soon. I was surprised he didn't make any late appearances since his return. I get the feeling that if Williamson doesn't start showing pop soon that this will happen 2 to 3 times a week.

The D-Backs were atrocious batting in May, just a 57 wRC+

The Giants were at 116

Not gonna look at the draft thread, can someone give me a quick summary as in are we happy with our picks so far? Especially curious how they did with that #2 pick

Joey Bart, catcher. The right pick

He's a right-handed power bat. Really good defensively, could move quickly

Haven't gotten to their other pick yet

Are you being lazy? Okay, I'll feed it. The Giants haven't gotten to their 2nd pick yet. Seems those more in the know than me are stating most of the ideal guys for that pick are gone. That pick is about 8 picks away. You can follow here:MLB Draft Tracker.

I like who we got for the 2nd overall pick (is that what you meant?). I think the general consensus on this forum is that the Giants got the best available guy. I was initially unenthused about Bart but he sounds good for this year as the 2nd overall guy drafted.

Bart was the unquestioned #2 in this draft. Prob I still that this draft was deeper rather than top heavy.

Bart should be decent though. Not sure he is face-of-the-franchise good, though.

What today's lineup would have looked like three years ago:

Panik - .312/.378/.455
Posey - .318/.379/.470
McCutchen - .292/.401/.488
Crawford - .256/.321/.462
Longoria - .270/.328/.435
Sandoval - .245/.292/.366
Pence - .275/.327/.478
Hernandez - 0 for 5

Those don't come along often obviously.

The "fun" part of the draft is that the team could have everything right and still draft wrong. How many teams wished they hadn't skipped over Buster Posey or Mike Trout? The only thing that would have really bothered me is if the Giants drafted someone merely to save money, thereby skipping more talented players. Of course, 5 years down the road, if the that less talented player turned out to be the more talented player, the Giants could have been considered geniuses for skipping other players for him.

Drafts in all the sports are dicey but it seems to me for baseball it's just completely random/luck.
