Wheeler will be supplanting Colon...not Harvey.

This was discussed with the pitching staff during ST.

Colon said he's okay with a a move to the BP...and of course all of it hinges on Wheeler's effectiveness and performance.

If Colon is pitching well and Harvey still stinks they won't pull Colon out of the line up unless they have a really big lead on Washington. They may even go with 6 pitchers for a few turns to avoid over working guys, especially the younger guys like Thor, Matz and Wheeler coming off the injury.

These conversations usually end up a moot point as one or more pitchers always end up getting hurt.

Of course...Harvey could do a 180 and suddenly regain his old form.....Colon could still be the steady solid elder vet..and Wheeler could be lights out....which ultimately leaves things in the hands of TC & Sandy A. not to mention Scott Bor-ass ....:mad2:

Heaven forbid something unforeseeable happening to one of the other starters down the road....

This is after all the NY Mets we're talking about here.....nothing is a given....or ever easy.

you need to stop being so kneejerk in your replies..

did you read my edit?

Mea culpa.

From now on, I'll wait at least three hours to read your comments after you've posted them so that you have ample time to edit them.

Don't despair, dude.....it's only May 25th.....still a long way to go.

More time for the Padres to be no hit? Or get to 95-100 losses? Nothing to be optimistic about outside of a few players having great seasons.

I understand the frustration....but a lot can happen between now & Sept.
All it takes is winning a few series and putting this one behind them.

Glancing back over their schedule...seems they've been in a lot of the 29 games that they've lost....about half (14 of them could've gone either way..like today's loss) while some of their other losses haven't been so close.

Gotta take the good (whatever it is) with the bad.

They've won or tied each of their last 6 series' not against the Giants, and are 0-9 against SF. They don't have nearly enough offense to compete long term, the pitching has been good enough to win games this month but when you struggle to score 3 runs a game you're gonna have a problem. Even if they did turn it around and get back to .500, the Giants are taking the division and beating out 2 of 3 of the top NL Central teams plus the Nats or Mets for a WC spot is almost impossible.

I'll try, but it can be difficult at times with how long it's been since the Padres have been contenders.
