Giants already down 1-0 in the 3rd inning. Hope Rodon looks like his 1st 5 starts today and the Giants eek on out. This offense isn't that great. Pederson is in a free fall. Interesting how Gonzalez starts about every game when he is up but still got the demotion last week. Its telling that Papierski is immediately inserted into the lineup.

Rodon and Bart have reportedly built a very nice relationship. I think it is more about Bart needing a rest than anything else. We KNOW Papierski is not going to give any offense. He has never even shown any flashes of a bat.

And Rodon just issued his 4th walk. He's looking shaking, 63 pitches in 3+ innings. Luckily, the Padres haven't capitalized . . . thus far.

Both Longoria and Belt getting a day off, and Belt against a righty too. Of course, both have looked horrible lately, so they need some time off.

Still seems so strange to not ever talk about pinch hitting for the pitcher now. Not that Rodon's spot would come up this inning (unless the Giants put up a big inning) but, normally, if the pitcher's spot was going to be up, we'd be talking about whether Kapler would pinch hit for him since he's at 100 pitches.

Interesting decision to non-intentionally intentionally walk Yaz to face Ruf. Yeah, Yaz is hit but Ruf seems to be getting hot as well. Hope it backfires on the Padres.
