If it happens it will just prove what we all know.
It's not a Playoff, it's an Invitational.

With the current play-off committee Alabama will be in the play-off if they have a winning record. They will find a way to get bama in. As we have seen in the past, Alabama will get in even if they are not the Conference Champ, nor the Divisional Champ, and no matter what their SOS or Power Rating is.

But there is even a bigger issue … some sport writers are starting to write about it.

With Georgia losing … it is a possibility that 2 SEC teams from the same Division (West) may be in the play-off. 1 (of course would be Bama - no matter what their record) the other LSU or Auburn... (yes were are playing what if here … but possible)

Now that would be a real test of the present play-off system... might just end the play off as we know it...

While I dont doubt that people want to put Bama in, mostly for their record the last decade, I think it will be tough this year. Their OOC is Duke, New Mexico St, Southern Miss, and Western Carolina. It is quite possible a 1 loss Bama team will have beaten 1 ranked team in Auburn... There is not a lot to put them in. Plus there is a good chance Clemson goes undefeated (they play nobody, but 0 loses will work). OU has a solid chance at being undefeated. The Big 10 winner also. There is a lot of football to be played and games to be blown, so we shall see.

If we want to go back to the BCS era, we can talk about 04 Auburn. So even during the BCS era, the preferential treatment went both ways.

Those are undefeated teams also. Not the same parallel.

Have you only been paying attention to CFB for 6 years?

Two SEC West teams played in the #1 vs #2 national championship game in 2012, so it wouldn't be unusual for them to be 2 out of the 4 CFP teams.
.

Well truth be told, only one of those teams actually PLAYED in that game.

Texas has 2 losses. They won't make the playoffs. They could beat OU in the championship game. As long as OU only has one loss, they will be ahead of Texas.

I only say this because nobody likes Texas.

If OU and Texas both have 2 losses after the championship game, no big 12 team will be in the playoff.

I only say this because nobody likes Texas. Patrol your borders. You're a disgrace.

As an Ohio State fan we’ve obviously been on both sides of the equation. But past two seasons we’ve had more quality wins than Clemson will be able to gain based on their schedule and both times left out with only a single loss, albeit bad losses. But I think most any team Clemson loses to will be a bad loss based on who they have left.
Here's my tip:

Don't lose badly to Purdue.

Sure it is. It counters the “preferential treatment” in the retarded OP.

The preferential treatment would be taking a non-champ with the same record over a conference champ. That didn't happen in 2004.
