With the current play-off committee Alabama will be in the play-off if they have a winning record. They will find a way to get bama in. As we have seen in the past, Alabama will get in even if they are not the Conference Champ, nor the Divisional Champ, and no matter what their SOS or Power Rating is.

But there is even a bigger issue … some sport writers are starting to write about it.

With Georgia losing … it is a possibility that 2 SEC teams from the same Division (West) may be in the play-off. 1 (of course would be Bama - no matter what their record) the other LSU or Auburn... (yes were are playing what if here … but possible)

Now that would be a real test of the present play-off system... might just end the play off as we know it...

but seriously

Undefeated & Conference champ will trump anything.

11-1 bama/lsu/auburn non conf/non div champ
13-0 conf champ whoever
bama/lsu/auburn is out

11-1 bama/lsu/auburn non conf/non div champ
12-1 conf champ whoever
bama/lsu/auburn is out

If we get a 11-2 Conf champ, then we might see it, maybe

:2cents:

My bet is Bama is in with 1 loss regardless.

Have you only been paying attention to CFB for 6 years?

Two SEC West teams played in the #1 vs #2 national championship game in 2012, so it wouldn't be unusual for them to be 2 out of the 4 CFP teams.

"In just five years of the College Football Playoff, we've already had one instance of a conference putting two teams in the final four. Talk of two SEC teams making the playoff has been a part of the conversation ever since Alabama and Georgia played their overtime thriller in Atlanta, but in 2019, we have the potential not only to see two SEC teams make the playoff but two Big Ten teams as well. The biggest reason for projecting that possibility? Wisconsin is one of the most dominant teams in the country, and Penn State seems to be getting better every week."

SEC-Big Ten battle for supremacy as Clemson battles itself: What to watch over the second half of the 2019

Could get real complicated

Would Clemson get in with one slip up? I am of the mind Clemson and/or Bama are essentially a lock with one loss.

Depends what happens with other teams. Tough to say currently.

If OU and CU are unbeaten, no conference is getting more than 1 team in the CFP unless some weird things happen and champs of at least 2 P5 conferences have at least 2 losses. The only time a conference had 2 teams in the CFP, the P12 and B1G champs both had 2 losses.

So while it is fashionable to quip about how certain conferences get preferential treatment, the reality is that it NEVER occurs at the expense of unbeaten P5 teams or 1-loss P5 champs. If someone can offer an example otherwise, please do.

In the BCS era, 2011.

Clemson has a harder road, I think they would have more trouble putting in two ACC teams in than putting in two SEC teams. I know with the Big 10 they put in tOSU when PSU won the conference, but I think its a harder sell.

What if Texas runs the table and it's down to 12-1 Texas or 11-1 LSU?
