Cody vs Dustin...my God top 5 favorite matches ever for me.

AEW getting Moxley is huge and I think they get Punk on board by their Chicago event.

They are seriously gonna compete with WWE.

Despite their proclamations to the contrary, they want to destroy WWE. Dead. Buried.

Bad move with mocking HHH, imo. It just proves that he is always on their mind. If AEW wants to be their own product, then dont give WWE the time of day. WCW's failure was helped in part due to this exact reason.

Kind of like Trips using time in his HOF speech to fire off shots at AEW (pissant company), The Elite (making executive VP cracks), and their fanbase (mocking the too sweet chants). Everything before that was mostly cordial from Cody and the others when asked about WWE

It was one minute out of a 4 hour plus show and the shot was at someone who directly shittalked them at the WWE hof.

Aew already did their own thing last night and it was an excellent show.

They've taken shots at WWE much longer than 1 minute at a PPV.

They were jokes. You do know what jokes are right?

Your last point is complete bullshit. They were backhanded compliments, at best.

So your interpretation is fact.....got it.
If hes actually using time in a HOF speech to make cracks about them, theres more to it than just having some fun

My guess is the title will be on Jericho going into their cable shows on TNT. Gives them a household name amongst all wrestling fans, but my guess is Jericho loses the title at the first PPV that is advertised from their TNT shows. Omega is good, but he isn't known to your casual fan. It'll be Jericho vs Page at whatever major event is happening right before they go on cable TV, Jericho wins, drops it a few months later to Omega.

Is AEW gonna have monthly PPVs like WWE?

I hope not,I wish WWE would only do the Big4 and MITB every year.

I don't think its set in stone yet but Tony Khan mentioned in an interview that they'll have a few "big" shows throughout the year (similar to DoN, 3 to 4 hrs is) and then small shows (2 hrs ish) in between. I don't know if it'll be every month but in the immediate future, its set up that way;

June is Fyter Fest
July is Fight for the Fallen
August is All Out (just announced today. My guess is this one will be treated as a "big" show)

Based on what I'm reading secondhand from Meltzer reports DON did 98,000 buys, 2/3ds of that number domestically.

That's higher than TNA at its peak, plus this was at a ridiculously high $50 price point, plus they saved the Moxley entrance as a surprise rather than a way to increase buyrates.

Really huge success.

Let’s say they do 100k every PPV for the year for each of their PPV’s at $50. They get $20 per buy because of what the PPV company takes. That is around $8M for the year. The top eight talents get paid more than that. Who knows what the TNT ad split will bring in. They need much more revenue than that. Gotta temper enthusiasm.

98 K is an insane number for a company who hasn't run a TV show yet. Nobody is saying this proves they're going to be successful but it's a really encouraging early sign.

Well the PPVs might not even be one of their two biggest sources of revenues, since in addition to TV they're also getting money from attendance....for a PPV type event, it's possible they could bring in half a million at the gate (if average ticket price is $100 and they get 50% of it for a 10K seat arena).

And when they do weekly shows, if they do it in smaller venues (say, 5K seats), and if the average ticket price is $50 (with their cut being 50%), that's $125K in rev per show which over a year exceeds $6M.

Great match. Great creativity.

The counters were probably my favorite part.

A lot of breaks, maybe too many, but just a small quibble.

FYI, they're doing another "Road to" series on Cody's Youtube channel ( "Nightmare Family" ) for Fyter Fest

Fyter Fest will be free on the B/R app.

Not that surprising to me considering its really just an exhibition wrestling show taking place at a gaming convention. Still, there should be some fun matches. Just added Hangman/MJF/Jimmy Havoc/Jungle Boy four way today
