The silver lining in what will likely be a negative season, is maybe we can finally use that overhyped cliche, "Ricky's boys don't quit" with a straight face. There does seem to be more fight in this year's team, at least on the offensive side of the coin. Our second straight come-from-behind win in the 9th inning, and our third walk off W in a week. Did we even have three of those in total last year, or for that matter in any of the last six or seven years? Honestly, I don't remember. It seemed to always be a fate accompli that once we fall behind in a game and especially if we're still down in the last couple of innings, we could just chalk it up as a loss. Not anymore.

True. At least the offense has some lead in its pencil this year, and in a clutch fashion at times.

Can the Sox make some quality trades before the trading deadline and make a run at a AL wild card spot?

They can make a splash and sign Keuchel. Based on Hahn’s track record though, he’ll probably sign James Shields.

Pitching isnt close enough for that to be a realistic option IMO.

That Indians walk off HR to end the game right now is pretty upsetting.

Giolito looking pretty good the last few starts. Nova on the other hand, is garbage.

Nova is an embarrassment. If it wasn't for the injuries to our staff and the catastrophe that was Ervin Santana - I would say to DFA his ass. However, there's no choice but to keep trotting his ass out there.

Thank god Giolito has made some strides and is beginning to resemble the prospect we thought that we had traded for a few years back. Imagine how bad this staff would be if he was still firing an ERA consistently hovering around 7.00 like last season.

I don't want to rush Cease, but it would be nice if he's truly ready somewhat soon.

Either on this thread, or another Sox thread, I was pretty down on Giolito. The start of the season, other than that brief injury spell, has been a Renaissance for him. Glad I'm eating my words considering the way he's pitching.

So are they going to have another bullpen gm tomorrow? They had 4 days to call someone up or sign someone. Don’t get taxing your bullpen

I'm obviously responding to you several days after your post, and agree with you about Nova, but his outing against the Astros gave me some hope and a brief glimpse of his above average quality he is capable of.

Giolito has been ace-like. The best team in baseball was baffled by his slider last night. Cease should absolutely not be rushed. Agree with you 100% there. Considering the timetables for Kopech and Rodon, might as well not rush Cease at all. Maybe late season call up for the most limited of mound experience. Not even a cup of coffee. Just a shot of espresso.
