He didn't hit the ref though right? I don't see why he would get suspended. A fine seems fine. Not sure what happened in past incidents where players threw a ball at a ref though.

It is about intent or at least it should be.

If a player throw a punch but miss, wouldn't he still get suspended?

Same should apply here

It doesn't matter that he didn't hit the ref. He still threw the ball in the refs direction. NBAers can't be doing stuff like that.

Well I mean a punch and a ball is a HUGE difference but I see the logic. Still, I don't remember past incidents happening like this so just trying to judge what punishment is fair.

I like it.

I think players should now throw balls at refs more often

That would make games more interesting.

They could make it part of the game. If a player objects to a call, the game stops and it becomes dodgeball. The player gets 3 throws and if he can hit the ref, the call is reversed. If not, then the foul stands.

Not necessarily.

A thrown basketball can be almost as bad though. Especially if the ref doesn't see it coming.

Yep and if DeRozan threw that ball a little lower then he would have knocked Scott Foster head off....which wouldn't have been a bad thing

If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.

RW threw a ball at a ref and hit him in the head of a couple years ago. Whether it was intentional or not, he didn't even get ejected.

I doubt he gets suspended but the thing is everyone keeps saying it doesn't matter if he gets hit or not but it does imo. If he hits him in the head, he gets suspended no doubt about it maybe for multiple games. Intention wise, it doesn't matter if he hit him but I think it makes a difference in his punishment. The reason why he probably won't be suspended.

On wiggy's chin?
If you recall it was LeBron gently placing said nutsack on Draymond's head that got him teed up and suspended

This has turned out to be a good series - I think it's going 7.

Yeah it's easier to blame LeBron for Dray getting all those T's during the '16 playoffs. :heh:

Honestly, it would make some of these first round matchups more watchable. LOL.

Attempting to hit the ref and missing should be the same punishment as an attempt that lands, IMO.

The Nuggets may have turned a corner in game 4. They played playoff O and D. They were being pushed around by the Spurs up to that point. Every young team new to the playoffs and the brutal level of physical play has to make such a leap. Tonight's game will be the most telling. Popovich will have his team primed to play aggressively; and if the Nuggets play with the same fire--particularly Murray and Craig--hopefully they'll get out of the first round alive. This is one of the most interesting series of the first round.

Hoping the Nuggets can at least get this series to 6 or best 7 games.
