Obviously, if the Skins make the playoffs, Allen's got job security. My point was if they don't make the playoffs because the defense still stinks - which has a very good chance of happening - he loses the benefit of the doubt, because he didn't do enough to improve the biggest problem on the team - the DEFENSE. And because he didn't pick a defender in the 1st round, that's one less outstanding defensive player for the future.

Allen has brought in 4 defensive starters and we did even have the draft yet. So you cant say Allen didnt do enough on defense.

My thing on McCaffery is, IM not a huge fan of taking a guy in the first round that six months ago was considered a 3rd rounder. I agree that there is a bit of stigma with white boys at RB, but fuck this kid could be white shady for all I know. I have seen Cook alot, I have seen Mixon and Fournette a couple of times. Any one of the four looks like they would be an upgrade over what we got.

Where did you hear 3rd rounder six months ago? He was projected a 1st rounder after the college season. He tore up the combine so naturally he is going to get picked high. Some saying top 10.

If we don't have a winning season...Allen should be fired.

Allen's job should not hinge on signing a player. It should hinge on success. That being said, if we dont resign KC and we have a losing season the following year, Allen should be fired then.

The job security of Bruce "Dickhead Claire Lady Balls" Allen aside. Its a risk, but I think the Skins can wait till the 2nd rd to draft Mixon.

You should go run and hide if McCaffery gets selected in the top 10 or 20 picks. You did even have him as a first rounder. lol

Mixon could give this team great success so yea it could save Allens job. So 7-9 Allen is fired gk?

Six months ago McCaffery was NOT in the talks as a first round, and damn sure not a top ten pick. Most mocks at the end of the season had him as a solid late 2nd round pick who could slide to the top of the 3rd.

Unless he has another Video come out of the R. Kelly variety between now and the draft, its highly doubtful he lasts to pick 49. And the current video aaside, I would not be shocked if some one traded ahead of us to take him if we did decide to go defense in the first round.

I was as disgusted as everyone else at the video of Mixon. But it was also years ago and I think he has already paid the price for the terrible terrible action. People act as if he got away with it when the truth is he was suspended for an entire season and now will be drafted much much later than he would have been without the incident. This has cost him millions of dollars already. So I would have no problem if he was the pick at 17.

OH this kid has shot up the draft boards no doubt. I think next year Im going to start saving some of these deeper mock draft so I can keep track of how far guys move up or down the draft boards from Jan to April.

The combine is huge. Any mock draft before the combine is worth crap. guys move up and down 2 rounds b/c of the combine.

And that is the flaw in the system. Smart Gms use the combine to confirm what they have gathered on a kid. If you had a kid as a 20-25 pick before the combine, and he shoots up to a top ten pick based on a workout with no pads and no one in front of him.... Thats how you end up with guys like Dion Jordan going top 3 more often than not.

cmon Jordon was a great player in college and was considered one of the best defensive players in the draft. If you have a 2nd round grade on a player and he destroys the combine and he dominated college that is when the biggest jump happens.

McCaffery is an accomplished college player, detroyed the combine, and can do multiple things to help your team that is why he is hot right now.

Oh I get why he is hot. IM just saying a guy moving from late 2nd early 3rd up to top ten over a span of six months makes me a little nervous even at 17. Then again a kid who was projected as a possible top five who slides to 22 ( Johnny numbnutz comes to mind) would also make me very nervous if we picked him.

This kid might be all that and a cup of spicy boiled peanuts, I really hadnt dug too deep into him until recently. So Im going off my gut, and big jumps in draft position tend to make me nervous.

A rookie Rb has a bigger impact than a rookie defender we would take at 17. A pick like that can save a gm's job if that rookie Rb is responsible in taking the team to the playoffs or has a huge stat year.

How could you know that?

To be fair, some people have been on him as a 1st rounder for a long time.

If the rookie defender is not a sack master history shows that rookie RB's have the biggest impact on teams.

Again, I would be fine with him or Cook at 17. I admit I only saw two games with Mixon in them, and he balled out in both. I saw every Knowles game for the past two years, he falls slightly short of Mixon in the power game, but this kid is legit. Feed him the ball and he is a 1300-1500 yard back. And he will leave a trail of broken ankles and crushed dreams in his wake.

But as i said if we took either of them at 17... IM good.

Mind you I think we are going to go defense, because I dont think Bruce is that smart.

Agreed. Which is why I think we'll take a RB :bounce:
