Yes the disrespect they get is due to the WCC. It's been 27 since a mid major cut the nets down (UNLV-BigWest). And in that 27 year span the only other mid majors to make it to the title game was Utah (WAC) in '98 & Butler (Horizon) in '10 & '11. Why mention Carolina's path from last year? That has nothing to do w/ this years Tourney. The Tar Heels are a legit blue blood hoops program & are in their 20 Final Four (most all time). Tourney history is more on the Tar Heels side than the Zags.

True but Mark Fews Zags have played in 42 Tourney games, not talking about a Cinderella here

Can't argue w/ that. I'm glad to see the Zags finally got to a Final Four. I got nothing against them but I will be rooting for Carolina tomorrow night. Have family that went to school in Chapel Hill.

Why can't people just look at the fact that they have a roster full of good players? No instead let's look at how shitty their conference is. Did you know that Gonzaga has the only potential one and done player and not the blue blood? And has 2 former McDonalds All-Americans. And have 3 projected draftable players, and that doesn't include Karnowski or Williams who are 5th and 4th year players respectively? Or that basically every metric has them as a top 4 team, signifying an elite team? But they play in a shitty conference so they can't be any good. Its laughable.

Did I say they don't have a good team? Not sure why you said that. If they didn't have a good team they wouldn't still be playing. The past title game history shows it's not often a mid major makes it that far. That was the point of my comment. And you're the 1 saying they "can't be any good". And like you said, that's laughable.

What's crazy is that I suggested we just agree to disagree. And you agreed. And then the itch of being right about a discussion flared up and you jumped right back on. Sorry man, not sure why there's such an obsession with being right, but it's ridiculous. "I never said that they couldn't get to the FF/NC." That is a direct quote from that thread. I said there wasn't enough evidence for me to bet on it beforehand. Just because you need someone on an internet message board to say they're wrong for you to get the fuck over it and move on with your life is fucking pathetic. Seriously, think about it. You are fucking obsessed with trying to be right on an internet message board.

The craziest part is that you can't see that there is nothing to be right or wrong about. My opinion wasn't if GU will make the FF or not. My opinion is whether there was enough evidence for me to predict it going in. And that evidence going in to March hasn't changed. I can take GU's new FF and add that to my evidence for future years, but you bet on them and I didn't. That's it. If you bet on them, you won whomever you bet. BUT I DIDN'T BET AGAINST THEM.

And you try and quote me as saying that I thought GU isn't one of the 6-8 teams that I think can make the FF. But I put up the actual quote and you couldn't even read it correctly. Jesus. I said that GU is not one of the 6-8 teams right now that I would say going into March that I would say is a FF team. How are you not able to comprehend that? I didn't bet against them, I just didn't bet on them.

Again, sub GU out for Oregon. Especially losing Boucher, I wouldn't have predicted them to get all the way to the FF. I put their ceiling at the EE. Great team, players, coach, and program. I Never thought that they couldn't get to the FF, but with losing Boucher, I just couldn't bet on them to do it. So yes, there is a difference between saying a team CAN'T get to the FF, and saying that I can only see them getting to the EE. If we were talking about South Carolina, then I would have said I don't think they could have gotten to the FF. And I would have been wrong. See the fucking difference? How many times do I need to walk you through this? Are you really under the impression that I can pick a team to get to the EE, but think they CANNOT get one game further? Incapable? I said in that same thread, that we are arguing about one round. One game. That's the difference. You thought going in that they looked like a FF team. I didn't, same with Oregon. The conditions for me to not bet on Oregon haven't changed. Boucher is still hurt, and so my prediction would not have changed. And they made it, great for them. Wish I would have bet on them, glad I didn't bet against them.

You can be done here whenever you realize that being right on an internet message board isn't required for a fulfilling life. You started out agreeing to disagree. In the end, that's the best we can all hope for from this ridiculousness. I've accepted the outcome over a month ago. You did too. I suggest (for the sake of your peace of mind) that you go back to that.

I'm not gonna read everything you said because I'm sure its mostly stuff you've already said. But I don't need to be proven correct about anything. I've been wrong about plenty of shit, that's what having an opinion is about. Somebody is gonna be right and somebody is gonna be wrong. I guess the best anology I can make is that if Washington State suddenly got Gonzaga's roster, even with no tournament success they'd be good enough to get to a FF. I don't think one year translates to others. Especially when Gonzaga has a completely different(and better) team this year. NWG, Matthews, Williams, Karnowski, Collins and Tillie weren't playing last year. Essentially the 5 most important pieces on the team are new.

You came off like you were disrespecing them because of the WCC. I'm just saying shitty conference aside they are an elite team. They shouldn't have to "prove" themselves tomorrow night.

Why would I disrespect them when I'm a UNLV fan for 30 years? Although I do agree the Zags are an elite team. My bad if my original comment seemed like I saw talking shit about them because that wasn't what I was saying @ all. And if it was any other team in this years field they had to face for the title other than Carolina I'd be rooting for them. And even if they pull off the upset I'll be happy for their program. I think Mark Few is 1 helluva HC.

Tark the Shark with the towel in his mouth with priceless, and one of the best college teams I have ever seen. They would whip this years Carolina by 20 points

Call me a bit biased but that '90 squad was 1 of the best of all time. When I was a Runnin' Rebel season ticket holder ('06-'07 to '09-'10) I was lucky enough to meet Tark the Shark. He is & always will be a Las Vegas icon.

Not biased at all and I'm not a rebels fan persay ,but that squad to me was the best imo. Larry Johnson, Stacey Augman, Greg Anthony and I know I'm missing a name or too. Cool to have met Jerry and he coached a local boy here at Fresno St Chris Herron. Unfortunately drugs derailed his NBA career.

Ok, then. Let's put things in perspective.

Last year's UNC team, which I feel is a better team than this years, had this path to get to the title game...

-the 16th seed
-A 9 seed Providence team I was very familiar with which relied on one player
-A very inconsistent Indiana team, 5 seed
-A 6 seed Notre Dame team that lost 7 games in same conference
-A 10 seed Cuse team that was thisclose to not even making the tournament.

So, what say you?
I say it was an easy path. I do think indiana and ND is betger then any team gonzaga played this year but that is my opinion. I do agree with you last years team was better. No argument from me.

A couple of names you left out...Anderson Hunt (Tourney MVP), David Butler & Moses Scurry. And yeah it was a shame that Herron's demons got the better of him.

I knew I missed a few . Yes at least now he goes around to schools country wide and talks about addiction and in fact he came to my son's HS like 4 years ago and spoke, very powerful. He talked about about how he waited outside in the rain before a Celts game waiting for his dealer, while the National Anthem was being sung, or how he blacked out and crashed. He never took coke until his freshman year at FSU and then he was ruined. At least his wife and kids stuck behind him

I didn't know that Herron goes around the country talking about his mistakes. That's some powerful stuff & I applaud him for doing so.

I think it's gonna be a great title game & even if the Zags pull off the minor upset it wouldn't be a surprise @ all.

That was a completely different era, my man.

Augmon and Johnson would have gone pro by like 1988 if things were the way they are now...

Sure but all the teams were playing with upperclassman, and they beat Duke by 30 in the Championship game 103-73 perfect name Running Rebels
