Free agent DT Johnathan Hankins has been holding firm that he wants a multi-year contract.

Hankins, 25 later this month, has surprisingly drawn zero interest in the 7-10 days free agency has been open. Easily one of the best players left on the market, Hankins wants to be a starter and seeks $8 million-plus per year. According to Dolphins ace beat writer Armando Salguero, Miami checked in on Hankins, but he isn't willing to accept a one-year offer. Hankins went into this reportedly wanting a five-year deal at $45 million or more. That's highly unlikely to happen at this stage of free agency. Whoever eventually lands Hankins could be getting a bargain.

I guess we are waiting for his numbers to come down. Its just hilarious that the Skins wont give me a muti year deal when we have bums like Hall and Lavou on our team.

Hall's a great guy and a leader, but we saw him try to play safety last year - and he was always 2 steps behind. He was the worst of the bad safeties we tried out there. And that was when he was healthy. Hire him as an assistant coach, but get him off the roster now. Manusky, if you haven't seen enough, then maybe you're in over your head.

Who said we are unwilling to give a multi year contract to Hankins? We just are not willing to give him 9 mil per season. As a matter of fact, nobody is. This is clearly a player that thinks more of himself than anybody else.

Then we should pay him. He will anchor the defense for years to come and lived in the backfield all season last year. Keep in mind that he is the same age as Doctson with a few years of NFL experience. He is young, talented and healthy. Pay him!

Yep. That is exactly what I am saying. When you have the one of the worst 3 run defenses in the league, you have to draw a line in the sand at some point. If he is only playing that many snaps, then he is clearly doing his job. While I like the signings this year, we have pretty much taken a step sideways instead of step forward. We have to have someone clog the middle and disrupt the mid-line of scrimmage. If we do not, then our defense will be a disaster again. We literally have the worst DLine and ILB corps in the NFL....so yes, pay the man.

Well my thinking would be he played about 70% of the Giants snaps last year. The only way I sign him is if he can start in our base 3-4 and still play DT in our sub package 4-3... in which case he might be worth it.

Remember we started Ziggy Hood at NT last year.... he cant be much worse.

i want to draft NT or a big dt that can play NT or a rookie free agent would not want to spend that much for one
SO your plan to sign an UDRFA to play NT? Wow, would not be smart. I am tired of this team neglecting the DLine. If we are going to draft a NT in the 1st round, then skip on Hankins.

However, I would much rather us sign Hankins and use the 1st round pick on Cunningham or Reddick. You all are failing to realize that your FA signings dictate the draft.

It amazes me the short term memory loss most Skins fans have on this board. I don't think they remember how our DLine was a bunch of human matadors. Once again, I like the DLine signings but they aren't that much better than what we had last year. They are better for sure, but you MUST have a NT to make the DLine a complete unit. Our core defense is such a disaster right now and it amazes me that fans don't understand that simple concept.

And for the millionth time, the draft won't solve every need for this team.

On most teams I agree with you but we cannot afford to not draft DLine high in the draft. We literally never learn our lesson and I am tired of drafting DLine projects or throwing an UDRFA at it.

The defenition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
