Like Pryor; we'll prob see everyone sign a one year deal that decides to play for this org. Without KC here (95%) next year nobody wants to be on a team with a B average journeyman QB on a team about to start another rebuild. I seriously doubt anybody else signs with us anyway long term like the above mentions because of this teams uncertainties and turmoil at the most prized position. Unless its a Bruce Smith type of player on verge of retirement.

Does Cousins play for all those other teams that had players sign for one year deals? Could it be that instead of 5 year back loaded deals GMS and agents are going for one year guaranteed and out on the market again. That would be smart for both sides. JMO

Fair point. Perhaps the new norm will be one year deals. The way the bidding wars keep escalating for players it probably does make good money sense. However, one would have to wonder how hard these players perform knowing they have to stay unhurt to make this gamble pay off.

ESPN's John Keim speculates the Redskins might move on from DL Ricky Jean-Francois.

Washington has already bolstered the defensive line with Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain and is visiting with Bennie Logan over the weekend. Jean-Francois is set to count $4 million against the cap in the final year of his deal, which is too steep a price to pay for a backup lineman. Jean-Francois played 439 snaps last season.

One might wonder how hard you play when you have a 5 year deal and no incentive to get that next big contract.

Nobody cares about dysfunction within the organization except players going for one last run. The guys we have signed and the guys we are discussing will go to the highest bidder...end of story.

Well stated, I believe that it's now an embedded trend because of what you stated about back loaded contracts. Unlike NBA and MLB players these guys rarely get to see a contract to its end, making it a reality that the only real money is the guaranteed type.
