I would point out that qb purgatory is.... nevermind...

OH no, please do share.

My take on QB purgatory is simply this...

If you dont have an above average to elite QB locked in long term.... you are in purgatory and searching for a QB. A good portion of your resources are likely going to be spent trying to acquire said named QB.

But I freely admit we have likely already gone past that point, and Colt McCoy should be....

Interesting to watch.

I don't mean to sound overly dramatic here but right now if SM is kicked out the door and Cousins is not resolved I can't see how I can invest any emotion in this team anymore. It is the same thing year after year and I'm done with it. I can do like I did with the Wiz for a long time, simply tune them out. Breaks my heart, I cant see changing teams this late in life, but I may end up being more of a Ravens follower next season.

I totally understand DGF, I've been a fan/ follower of this team since 1960. just in case you're not keeping score that was 3 seasons before Sonny arrived. I completely understand how you feel and my experience tells me that you'll feel much better after having any emotional ties to this team removed. The benefits of becoming that new type of fan/follower/loyalist are many including a sharper perspective on what must be done to improve them, no more sinking feelings when they do jacked up shit, you become less argumentative with others when discussing the team, you sleep much better especially around free agency and draft times. You still have a few favorites but when they eventually leave you meet that move with a resounding....MEH! just to list a few. So welcome my friend to the club where the expected dumb shit no longer elicits an emotional response but this: upload_2017-3-9_16-34-0.png

I think QB purgatory is when you have a qb good enough that you keep him around but not good enough to win you a SB. Teams like the chiefs and Bengals are in qb purgatory.

The problem with qb purgatory is until you bite the bullet and realize you need to move on from your starter you're actually worse off than the teams that are in QB hell (Cleveland, nyj, etc).

First off my apathy is not Cousins related. It's owner specific. He propped up SM and lied to us about giving him total control of the team. I can only get set up, then disppointed by this man so many times before I reach my limit. Apparently that number is 12 and this was #12. Or 13? Whatever I'm about done with it all.

For those who still care get it out of your mind that SF will give up the #2 pick plus huge money. Why on Earth would they offer that when they know they can simply wait a year for Kirk to be available after next season?

I'm with gk. With TT resigning and the lack of FA QBs available (of any quality) we have equally as much power in a trade negotiation especially if SF wants KC and wants him bad. A year or so ago, you would have gotten laughed out of the building if you said he is worth the #2. Today...I say he is worth that...minimum. If SF wants him that bad, then they will do more than #2. Plus. I say if KC and his agent want to play hardball... then so can we.

Alot can change in a year. If they wanted to wait until next year when KC can go truly test the market... then so be it. It would be a bidding war with 3 or 4 other teams. Good luck with that.

You can't wait until next season if you are SF because he will be a FA. The cost of KC would also go up dramatically.

But his strong preference is SF. Why would a coach and GM, both with 6 year contracts, give up the #2 pick for a QB they can probably get with little of no compensation next off season?

Pats, packers, panthers, seahawks, colts, falcons, steelers, giants, cowboys, titans, raiders, chargers.

Lions, dolphins, skins (if we extend cousins), bills are a bit up in the air/may depend on your opinion of their respective qbs.

Eagles, rams, jags still have guys on rookie contracts so I'll give them a pass.

Rivers is not going to win a SB for the Chargers. Also - he is getting very close to either retirement or being too old to be effective. Given my choice rt now I would take Cousins over Rivers for the Redskins due to age. I would also question putting the Cowboys on that list.

Sure - Prescott lit the world on fire, but you never know after one year. It was not long ago that the Redskins thought they had their QB problem solved for the next 10+ years only to see the rookie wonder QB flame out after one year. That type of thing happens at times in the NFL.

So he says. Because he is comfortable with KS and his system. Sure he would have the luxury of a coach with a 5 year contract.

But...when the stakes get high, things can change. What if Denver (or some other team) offers him more $$$ with a franchise that is in better shape (personnel wise)

Plus the Skins can always tag KC again next year, although at a higher cost. Which would make the 49ers wait two years before KC would become available.

For sure you could argue certain guys one way or another I was just trying to give an idea of what I think qb purgatory is and why its the worst place to be.

As for dak you're totally right he could fall off but he's the cheapest qb in the league right now so Dallas is fine. Rivers may be nearing the end but he's a damn good qb and has been his whole career.

There are a few things to look at here. KC has made it clear (I believe its obvious) that he wants to go to SF and play under Shanahan. If a trade doesn't happen (and for the record,, if SF offered a 6th rounder we should take it) because KC won't play for any other team it appears. He is under the tag to play here next year. Why have SF trade away picks when he can get KC next year for free, so to speak).. Skins would never tag him a 3rd time.. SF will have high picks next year as well... nice little situation for everyone involve,, except the skins who would just add to their legacy of the worse ran football team in the NFL. The only fear is that KC gets seriously injured this year,,, but then he never gets hurt. It wouldn't even be surprise to see KC fake injuries to sit on the bench and preserve body for his upcoming new team.,,, but then I don't believe he would do that.

He wants out. Trade him. Get what ever you can. Next year he will be gone and we get a 3rd only. There are still viable suitors besides SF. Denver, Houston, Chicago, Cleveland, to name a few. We can get a first and a mid round if we are smart. But then again, if we were smart, we would not be in this predicament.

He can state publically he wants to go to SF. When next year comes around, other teams may convince him otherwise with money. When next year comes around, maybe they no longer want KC.

Gentlemen, keep your news alerts set to loud, In a bit of irony, I believe that Kirk ends up in Cleveland if they trade him, they are still in play have a ton of money and this.....

Understand. One thing to note on Rivers - yes he has talent & has had great games. However - like Cousins (especially in his early stages) - Rivers has made a lot of key mistakes in his career. I believe that he leads the NFL in all time pick sixes. Not that big of a deal & that is why people need to back off the whole take about Cousins not being perfect and falling short at times - it happens - even sometimes with the very good QBs. If we have to suffer through McCoy for an entire season I think that we will learn to appreciate him.
