I'm asleep, I can't answer this question...
I didn't read at all today, Birthday party and whatnot.
Now for real, later

Well I can't argue with what you've experienced. You're probably a lot more world-wise than I. I live out in the middle of nowheresville and my contact with assholes, bigots, racists is about nil. I really do think though, that more people should learn to have these words roll off their backs. Words are words, and assholes are assholes.
I'm not getting any lols from you, eloco...does that mean you've written me off as a homophobe because I used the f-word in a joking manner?![]()
I was a soc major, so I think that adding and removing words in language can have significant influence. The more people feel using those words is unacceptable, the more it says the viewpoints behind the people that use those words are unacceptable. And nobody I know just throws those words around. I find it strangely foreign and unsettling we still have people in our country who think it's okay and who use them on a regular basis. Weird to me.
Lol. No, I was going to joke that falls under the Twilight exception, but I really hate the "f" word generally. I have a number of gay friends and I've seen how difficult their lives are already without people like that. And for what? Because I think using the "n" word is unacceptable about 30 years year after it became unacceptable.
Just not in the mood right now. Sometimes I just think our country is so fucking stupid and it disappoints me.
I should just ignore it, but I've never been a person that sits idly by and accepts ridiculous behavior, on these boards or in real life.
Fuck ignorance.

Anybody else think Pops' new smiley looks a little like Terry Bradshaw?
Soc major? Isn't that one of those fake majors?Seriously though...I think we'll have to agree to disagree about how somehow banning words would automatically make the world a better place.
Am I alone again?
I don't think he's saying to ban them or the words...just, if by peer pressure that the people saying those words were made as uncomfortable saying the words as the people hearing the words were, then over time the use of them would become extinct.Soc major?
