I feel like I miss out on news sometimes. Then I also figure I also miss out on a lot of useless garbage as well.

I honestly don't understand why Twitter became popular though when it's just Facebook status messages with nothing else attached to it. It seems like the worst of both worlds to me. Lots of chatter, even less "meaning" than Facebook.

The only part I see as interesting is that you can kind of follow and interact with celebs and athletes and that kind of stuff.

Seriously, why can I not write the word pron, but the "n" word and "f"word are a-okay? Pron is something pretty much every dude (and many women) check out. Those other words are hateful and only used by ignorant people whose parents never taught them any better and who have run the marathon of life well ahead of the pace of common sense.

I don't really give a shit if he wants to attack me or my state (I'll put Maryland up against Florida any day, ), but does anyone else think it's ridiculous people are allowed to use those words?

I hate to say it, but score a point for the Swamp on this one.

Actually, without reading the thread, I think I can answer that. If the pron word was used in full, this forum would be blocked in some workplaces.

And I'm of the opinion that fuck and ****er are just words. It's the context that determines whether they are meant to hurt, insult, enrage, etc or not.

I'm not talking about fuck. I'm talking about a word that ryhmes with maggot. I understand your opinion, but in my experience, anyone who just whips out those words is probably a racist or bigot. They aren't part of a well balanced, tolerant, intelligent persons vocabulary. They carry negativity based on who people are as a group. No need to use them when there are so many hateful words that get at the core of some individual being a douchebag. Asshole, shithead, scumbag, fuck nugget, ass hair, etc. I mean, not only it is kinda racist, it's just downright uncreative.

I have zero problem with offensive words, I have a problem with hateful words.

I think it has something to do with the advertising agreements on the site. SportsHoopla agreed to not allow **** at all to the banner people so the word itself isn't even allowed. I could be off though.

Well I can't argue with what you've experienced. You're probably a lot more world-wise than I. I live out in the middle of nowheresville and my contact with assholes, bigots, racists is about nil. I really do think though, that more people should learn to have these words roll off their backs. Words are words, and assholes are assholes.
