As GM in this scenario, I'm taking Johnathan Allen at #2 and hoping Watson falls from grace to #17.
Since that is improbable, deals with T.Taylor, Garappolo or Foles will be considered. I have no intentions of playing
Watson if I manage to land him at #17. If anything, the defense will have no weaknesses going into 2018.

And in the words of our President before he became President.. you're fired.

Watson is RG3 lite. Not as much narcissism, not as injury prone... but this kid will never be more than a gimmick QB. And we both know if we draft a QB because we dealt Kirk... no way in hell he rides the bench. :)

In FA:

Try to sign Tyrod. Hes 27 and shown himself to be a solid QB. He should be able to keep the team from imploding.
Also re-sign Garcon and Jackson if possible. If only 1 - keep DJax. Sign Leary if the cost is reasonable. Re-sign Baker.

In the draft:

You pray Garrett falls to #2. When that inevitably doesnt happen you take the bpa (Jonathan Allen seems to be the guy). Or you could look to trade down and secure more picks. Guys like Rueben Foster, Jamal Adams, Malik Hooker, and Solomon Thomas would be my targets.

Ideal scenario:

- Sign Tyrod to a reasonable deal
- Trade #2 to Buffalo for #10, #42, and their 2018 1st.
- Draft Malik Hooker at #10
- Draft Solomon Thomas at #17
- Draft Zach Cunningham at #42
- Draft Pat Mahomes at #49
- Continuing adding RB, WR, DL, and OL with remaining picks
- Have Tyrod, Colt, and Mahomes compete for the job (Im guessing Tyrod wins)
- Compete for playoffs

It is going to be tough enough to sign Garcon and/or Jackson even if they re-sign Cousins. Why in the world would you believe that either one of them would re-sign with the Skins if Cousins is no longer on the team? This would especially be true if you are dealing w/ a younger QB who is not really ready to lead a team at the current time.

If we tag cousins, we might as well go ahead and trade him as he will be gone next year. I suspect that he will view it as the final insult and an clear indication the team is not sold on him. We might as well get what we can. IF SF is willing to give us 2 #1s, take it and start to rebuild......again.

Understand that this is not my preference, just my view of reality.

Just don't panic if he is tagged within the next few weeks. He could still be extended a short while later. Many have stated that this is a very possible path for both parties.

Hence the if possible. I certainly don't think they'll automatically leave if Cousins does but it does get harder

oh, I'm not panicking because I think they will work out a long term deal. I am getting a bit antsy, tho. Not sure what is taking so long. They have a couple of key other FAs they need to resolve (Garcon, djax, davis) that can't happen until the KC issue is resolved.

Both are on the tail side of their careers & both are competitors who would like to achieve some type of playoff success. Sure money & some other factors are important, but I don't think that either would like to start over again with a new QB & possibly part of a rebuilding effort.

Maybe. But I think both would take the money and we have plenty of money. Maybe we can't get both of them by being the highest bidder but just 1 would be good.

And I don't think my plan as listed puts us into rebuilding mode. It's based on getting younger and more talented on defense while staying competitive in the now. Plus if they leave they have a new QB anyways and quite possibly one that's worse than Tyrod.

Reading the name Tyrod Taylor as our QB for next year is absolutely sickening to me.

i have said KC will be tagged from the beginning and they work out a deal

he isnt gone in 2018 as the press likes to report

if he is transitioned tagged in 18 it would be 28 mil to 29 mil not 34 mil if you franchised him

Tyrod is probably our best option if KC isn't here. But I really dont think he fits a Gruden offense.

If you mean because Kirk isnt here I get that. If you mean because you hate Tyrod I dont get that.

What I mean is they have a chance to sign Kirk and stop this madness. If they trade him and end up with a guy like Tyrod Taylor I do not care who they pick at #2 we will have no chance. It's a QB league and teams with Tyrod Talyors end up like the Buffalo Bills.

Thats true. I like Gruden and think he could adjust without tearing things apart and make it work with Tyrod but it would be different/a little risky.

Teams like the Bills have 1 good receiver who only played 2 healthy games all year. I definitely prefer Kirk but I think its a reach to say Kirk can definitely win us a SB but Tyrod definitely cant.

I have no idea what more evidence you need to see that tells us QBs at the Tyrod Taylor level are not the answer and never will be. And before you pull out Trent Dilfer I will remind you it happened exactly once and Dilfer was never heard from again, it was 17 years ago when the rules were different and a good QB was less important, and it required a record setting all time great defense.
