Sorry with the season on the line KC shit the bed.

Hmmm... If Hopkins doesn't miss a chip shot FG against the Bengals & if the defense doesn't give up an unforgivable score against the Lions w/ barely any time on the clock the Redskins make the playoffs in spite of Cousins. So how exactly does this all fall on Cousins?

b/c all we had to do was to beat the Giants at home to get in and we couldn't do it. Even when the defense only game up 13 points. I think a 80m g. Qb could do that. You can nit pick the whole season all you want. When it came to crunch time with two games at home KC did not deliver. Sure the stats looked flashy and I'm not a KC hater but you have to deliver in the clutch.

So the entire season comes down to one game? LOL. This is why nobody takes you seriously. You constantly spew kneejerk reactions & base everything on the most recent thing that happened for a given team, player or coach. You need to start looking at the big picture & also try to take emotion out of the equation.

KC is responsible for one of the worst losses in Redskins history. Yes last season game down to one game b/c we had a bad December. Call a spade a spade. I don't hate KC and I think he can be a good QB for us in the future but he had to win that game. The question was who was to blame to miss the playoffs. Are you giving KC a pass????

No but I just spelled it out for you. If Hopkins makes that easy FG & the Skins defense doesn't totally fall apart against the Lions the Redskins make the playoffs & that Giants game is meaningless in terms of making the playoffs. Therefore - I put the blame on Hopkins, the defense AND Cousins (as well as other folks). How hard is that to understand?

I understand that but Hopkins is not going to be the highest paid player in the league. HA! HA!

One can know something deep down and never admit it to the world.

For failing to address the defense two years in a row, and completely flop on Matt Jones.
Djax and Norman do not count

Every answer thus far has been completely off base. This team is exactly where they should be, making the playoffs would have been a bonus just as it was the season before. If anyone needs to hold blame, it's everyone who thought that they were better than they proved to be.

For the record prior to the season, I had them at 7-9 or 8-8 in the predictions thread, forget what my Avatar is doing, but that assessment was pretty damn close.

The entire article is a loaded question. And while I like where you are going with this response, GM is clearly the correct answer. Scott closed his eyes to the flaws the team had in 15, and did nothing sufficient to fix them in 16.
So -- the team regressed. It cost Barry his job, and it may cost Cousins his. Ultimately, Scott has done quite a bit of damage. you -- cannot dispute this

No doubt, you're right about SM, but I have a very different take on what he has done thus far. I believe that he correctly assessed this team following the 2015 campaign and like myself knew that they were what they turned out to be. Thinking that he didn't have much regard for that draft and any of the defensive players in it. He actually passed on many of them believing that none were first line types or that the JG selected staff would not be able to get much out of them. In any case, the result was another season at or near what had been done in 2015. Sure missing the playoffs was the down side, but honestly, anyone who believed that making the playoffs in 2015 was a sign that there was more upside coming in 2016, didn't take into account the complete weakness of the division at the time. However, ye ole' fox (SM) had a plan.....one that I currently believe that BA and possibly DS are becoming restless with. To be continued, back in a few.

I'll try this again -- I sped thru the blame game, but noticed Scott was mentioned.
I have to slightly disagree about THIS year. Scott for lack of better words "lucked up" twice with Jackson and Norman but still did little to help his secondary thrive. Its his second blunder man.
The people he pushed for to start, most of them failed miserably. Matt Jones, the defensive line and Whittner to name a few. So, yeah you can thank him for this team BRAGGING about having back to back winning season, lol

OK, to continue, not seeing much in the last draft SM did what he needed to do in order to set the team up for this off season, where by all accounts there happens to be an abundance of players who can help this team in both free agency and the draft. Signing guys cheaply last year did two things that go a long way going forward. First it allows the team to free up more money and second it doesn't hurt the cap much if any by releasing them or using them as backups.

Now make no mistake, Scott has to produce and Gruden and company have to do their jobs for this to work, but I honestly believe that top shelf GM's look well beyond the present and have a plan that is based on well established scouting, draft projections, possible trades, cuts and such.

That said, there are internal fights going on inside the organization, it happens in every professional organization not just ours. The difference is that it's easier to believe the worse when it's our team because of the history of dysfunction. For all of his warts, SM has done an excellent job here and the proof is in the numbers. The difference in a 9-7 season and a 8-7-1 season is 1/2 game, in that regard there has not been much of a step back. Making the play-offs has as much to do with other teams getting better than our guys missing them because of something that they couldn't yet do.

Believe it or not guys we are a pretty average team. Remember those numbers that I just posted? Consider this, in 2015 an 8-7-1 record would have still won the NFCE. There's ABSOLUTELY NO one to blame except those who believe that our team is more than that........Well, we're NOT!
