In that situation I am looking for trade partners if KC wont budge on his 80M number. If I can get insurance that the 49ers will give me a 1st and 3rd and a 3rd in 2018 draft he is as good as gone. Use the extra money and draft picks to make this team better on both sides of the ball. This is a massive overpay to a guy who hasn't won anything. At least Luck had some playoff success. Kc's success is all speculation. Sorry I don't call 2016 a success for him b/c of his stats, a lot was in garbage time.

Let the 49ers overpay for him. Im thinking the SM would want the picks and Synder wants to overpay. Lets see who has control of this team now.

First of all they are not going to get that in return from the 49ers. You really don't appear to know the value of draft picks. Secondly - even if that occurs - answer my question. Are you willing to watch the Redskins go 6-10 next season? Will you just go along & say "I have no issue w/ this. I know that they are doing the rt thing long term". Somehow I don't think this is the case. Are you good if that happens?

Even if we sign him I don't see us getting to 500 next season without some major changes

No one can predict the records of any team in 2017. I think they can get a 1 and 3 in this years draft from the 49ers b/c Shanny will be there. You are in the category of if we lose KC we are doomed. I don't buy that at all.

I never said that they would be doomed. I am simply stating that there is a very good chance of this happening - nobody can deny that. Using McCoy or some rookie or castoff next season puts them in much worst shape. Many of their best players are receivers who automatically suffer if the QB play is worse. Why would any objective person feel that this type of team would have a winning record?

Again - this approach might work long term, but it is very doubtful short term. OK - so I guess I mark you down as Yes - you would be OK with them finishing 6-10 next season.

Who said that they can't still make major changes even w/ the Cousins signing? However - I don't want them to go into full Vinny mode & sign some overpaid FAs.

b/c teams with good defenses can be successful with average QB's. With the money we save and the extra draft picks we can fix the defense. Look at the Houston Texans they succeeded this year with bad QB play and good defense. It can happen.

My question is why do we have to give an average QB who has proven he cant win the big game in crunch time 80M g. That doesn't make sense to me. All the QB;s who make this money or are going to make this money already have proved to win something or carry their teams.

You missed the part where dealing Kirk means we get to play the "Should we draft this rookie QB game". Its a favorite past time of Redskins fans, and signing Kirk long term really does spoil the fun.

After all, that game is really close to one of our other favorites... the "Yea we got this guy, but I cant believe we passed on (Insert star player from another team here) Game. We are particularly adept at this one.

The Houston Texans benefited by playing in perhaps the worst division in the NFL. The also lucked out by playing a Raiders team who was down to their 3rd string QB. The Redskins will have no such luxury & have a long ways to go to get their defense anywhere near that level. Even if all of that happened are you willing to roll the dice on a future QB when one of the possibilities is that you don't find a QB that can make a playoff run for perhaps the next 10 years? That is very possible.

You act as if Cousins has hit his ceiling & can't improve - disagree. Again - I can't believe that you went from being Cousins' biggest cheerleader to someone who appears can't wait for the team to kick him to the curb.

Yep - stupid Redskins. They really f'ed up by not taking Tom Brady, L. Bell, Antonio Brown & Richard Sherman among others. Idiots.

Possible. But its also possible that we can give KC what he wants and never see the playoffs in the next 5 years. I think KC is an average to good QB not elite. The possibility to get draft picks changed my mind. If KC got us in the playoffs and beat Seattle in Seattle then its a no brainer. 80M QB's should of done that.

Give me extra draft picks and more money to spend in FA, yes I would gladly roll the dice.

Were the Cowboys predicted to win 13 games after losing Romo?

Again - the exception and not the rule. Go look at the list I posted in another thread of the QBs drafted in the 1st & 2nd rounds in the last 20+ years. Very, very few of them have amounted to much. In the NFL a draft pick is much more likely to be a bust than a star. People need to stop always comparing upcoming picks to Prescott (or Wilson).

dean the question was " would you accept a losing season with cot mccoy or a rookie? " not about if anyone can predict a record ? you dodged the question

as for the houston texans , if KC were their qb they would have given the pats a run for their money

the list of great qbs who took time to win their first playoff game is long and extensive

the draft is a crap shoot at best

Im not saying we have to take a QB in round 1. Build the defense.

I accept any season b/c you cant guarantee me that we make the playoffs with KC and his huge contract. We could of had a losing season last year. So what does that really mean? KC is way too hyped up for what he really is. Again paying eliet money for average talent. Gee I wonder when we heard this before.

Eventually you have to get a good QB. If not - they odds are very slim that you make a SB run. The odds are also not that great of finding that QB in the draft even in the high rounds.

Well then get ready to accept next season w/ Cousins at the helm.
