Cutler and Taylor were not guaranteed the money that Luck is getting. Actually, Taylor was just a one year deal where the Bills are going to get out off. Its not about wanting a mobile QB. It about massively overpaying for average talent. You throw around the Luck deal like its nothing. Its the highest paid contract in the league.

Actually Luck got $47 million in REAL guarantees. That $87 million reported was for INjury only.

Cutler got $38 Million. Cutler also signed his deal three years ago which accounts for the $9M extra in guaranteed money Luck got on his deal last year.

But again dude, First it started out that we couldnt keep Kirk because we would have no money to fix the defense. Once that was proven wrong, it became we cant pay him what the elite QBs make, only I have also shown that Lucks deal in no way is reserved for the ELITES unless Cutler is now among them.

I get it, we all want the exciting "elite QB". Just realize that in continuing to chase the elite guy, we are likely to go back to shitty suspect QB play until suck time as we do luck up and find the next Russell Wilson.

Are you sure that 38M is all real guarantees? that doesn't seem right to me. There are no excuses. Must explore all options before making his kind of decision.

Actually Cutler got a sweeter deal than I first thought.

The $38 was fully guaranteed, but triggered on the 3rd day of the league year in 2014 for accounting purposes. (they did it to keep the cap prorate lower in the first few years.

His 2014 salary of $17.5 was fully guaranteed, and another $5 was the kick in on day three of 2014.

His 2015 and 2016 salaries were fully guaranteed at $15 and $16M respectivelly.

So, not including roster bonuses... .Cutler has made in Guaranteed money $62.47 Million on a deal signed 4 years ago at this point.

Add in the signing bonus of $6.4M and you are at $66.87 guaranteed.

Oh yea, and starting in 2017 he has a roster bonus of $2.5 M a year through 2020

Ture. BUt I must thank @deanpet21 for having me look deeper into QB salaries. I now realize that based on contract alone Cutler, Oswiler and Bradford are Elite... Kirk Cousins only wishes he could be in this rarefied air space.

Add Rivers and his $37M guaranteed to that as well.

I understand that. Like I said they will review all options. Kyle going to SF changes things. Do you agree?

KC doesn't have to wish he is going to get paid. I don't understand how Luck only got 9M more guaranteed than Cutler. This baffles me.

Kyles guy is KC. lol. I think he would be willing to give up Tribusky for KC.

But if we get the #2 WE wont be drafting Trubisky. IF the Browns take Garrett, we will either take Kizer or Watson. Trubisky is too boring for this owner and I suspect this fan base. Why give up on experienced Kirk Cousins for Rookie Kirk Cousins in the 1st round?? Because thats what trubisky is to a degree.

here is my issue , if you have to take one of your 1st rounders to replace the guy you are losing , that is spinning your wheels , because then we have a question at QB and all the other holes we need to fill

lining up with colt mccoy is a step back when all we should do is pay our qb with the abundance of cash we have for 2 years and simply build up more of a run game and some defense

~Whistle~

Personal Foul, use of Logic when discussing Kirk Cousins. 15 yard penalty and lose of down. One other infraction will result in ejection from the game.

sorry i let facts cloud the issue boss could we treat this like running into the kicker instead of roughing the kicker ?

OK fair enough. But no more pointing out stuff like a bird in hand beating two in the bush. Cant have too much of that kind of thinking around here. That shit leads to stability... and we cant have that in Ashburn now can we??

Foles is another option to replace Cousins. I think we are looking at this one-sided.
Let's say SF gives up #2 this year and a 2018 2nd rounder. If the F.O. doesn't believe in Watson or Mitch,
we can get two other great players in the first. In 2018, Almost all of our needs except quarterback would have been addressed via FA & the draft. With the extra pick, you could probably move up without losing anything in 2019

Dude... you really think if we did this deal, we would pass on drafting a QB all together with what would appear to be our shot to take our pick of QBs from this draft?? And Foles comes with the same issue Cousins has... not the type of QB the owner wants in here. For all the talk that Dan has been quiet lately, I think he would make his wishes known on this on particular position.

If we let Cousins go, we will draft a QB with either the #2 or the #17. And my bet would be the #2. Trubisky might be the best fit of the three for our offense... but again I think Watson or Kizer are more the face Danny wants on the franchise. And he will have some input.

I've been in a bitter type of mood today, my wife made fun of me because LAST year I swore to join to panthers.
Then Norman came to D.C. and I hopped back on the wagon only to experience this off-season limbo. Now everyone at work is asking ME what the skins are going to do with Cousins like Dan and I eat lunch together.
I just want to be a proud fan with the future looking up. I may disappear again, LOL(i'm lying)
