Ian Rapoport on Twitter: "Name to watch for the #Redskins vacant DC opening: #Panthers secondary coach Steve Wilks… who may know a certain star CB from a former team"

This I do not like.

Why not, it would likely mean we go back to a 4-3 which we are better setup for than some would think. Sure we would need two OLBs and still need a FS.

But a D line of Murphy, Draft pick, Baker and Kerrigan

That dont sound too bad. With Freaky Jean as a backup DE, and we could even keep Ziggy just to give Dean a warm fuzzy.

It seems a little like doing it just for Norman's sake. Maybe Im reading too much into it. I dont know much about the guy anyway.

4-3 could rotate Smith in at DE too. I dont think we're really any closer to running a 4-3 then a 3-4 though. Im fine with either I just want the best coordinator we can get. Hopefully Phillips.

I dont do this much, But EHB had it right.. Smith in the DE rotation.

Or actually possibly Smith as ROLB

We should really talk about non QB things more often. I think we'd get along a little better lol.

Me either. Nothe sure I want to bring in someone, right or wrong that would be perceived as Norman's boy.

I've heard that and I think there is more to it. I really think there is a tangible difference.

redskinfan is largely correct. We are in 3-4 no more than 35% of the time. When we are in 4-3 (although I am saying 4-3 we normally swtich to a 4-2-5 on passing downs) two of our OLBs play DE. If you wanted to switch to full time 4-3 we would need an upgrade at MLB and two new OLBs.

Put Smith at OLB, Gallette if healthy across from him, Compton at MLB is not horrid.

Stop the run and get after the pass. We fix our front seven, and aside from FS I think we have the horses to have a solid defense mostly in house already.

As a 4-3 defense that is.

Side note on Wilkes... he is being considered as a HC candidate by the Rams.

I don't like Smith in the 3-4 against the run. Maybe a new coach helps him. I don't see him as a 4-3 OLB. He is a 3-4 OLB. Compton is a great guy but not what I would want as a MLB unless he Butz and Grant at DT. Gallette hasn't been healthy for 2 years.

I am sure you have noticed how much better Dallas D is with a healthy Sean Lee. Will is not that kind of player.

Always a scapegoat.

Come on Guns... we saw two years of the bend over and take it defense. We saw the defense blow 4 4th quarter leads. Lets say the defense holds TWO of those games.... thats 10-5-1

The Skins fired Haslett and the world said they could NOT possibly get worse.

We took that as a challenge and hired Joe Barry.

We been over that... you cant fire Bruce Allen, that would leave no one to give Dan Snyder head work on command.

Pay no attention, the guy shows up without having a clue about what is happening with our team.

Back to Gallette I too wondered if he had lost something, 2 years off is a long time. But the reports are repaired achilles is not like a repaired knee, it's acutally stronger and less likely to tear. But it won't be the new DC's decision, SM is in charge of personnel and apparently a new, cheap deal is in the works.
