I think the Luck deal will be more than fair for KC. IF he is asking for more than that is just bullshit b/c he hasn't won anything yet. Lets see if SM even offers him the Luck deal.

Let me ask you.. what aside from being the #1 pick in the draft has Luck actually done to get the contract he got?? Last I checked he doesnt have a Super Bowl ring. You can spout on how he is elite and we would be fortunate to have a QB as talented as him and blah blah blah.

At the end of the day, its bullshit that Kirk either has to act like a brotha in the 50's or a Mexican here illegally and take a less than Market deal only to STILL be questioned as to his worth and most of you guys STILL wont be happy about it because you will constantly be saying shit like....

Well if we hadnt signed Kirk long term, we might have actually been looking for a QB and could have had (Insert name of Next Dak Prescott/Russell Wilson here)

I agree this is where KC cant be greedy. Sure he will get more money from a team like the Browns but does he want to go to the Browns. If KC refuses the Luck deal than I call foul. Its more than fair no matter what he can get on the open market. If he wants to be a Redskin and play with Reed, Doctson and Crowder and possibly Garcon he signs that deal.

Kc could also believe that the Redskins would never let him hit FA and will give SM a huge offer. I dont think he wants to play on the tag again. KC has all the leverage in this deal but SM could call his bluff and not give him a crazy deal.

Kirk Cousins on contract talks: 'I'm not trying to suck out every dollar possible'

Not sure where you are getting this idea that Cousins & his agent want to break the bank with his new deal. This article appears to contradict most of your opinions on this subject. Consider this quote from the article:

"I'm not trying to suck out every dollar possible. That's not the kind of guy I am or how I’m going to approach it," he said. "I understand, like Scot McCloughan and Jay Gruden, it’s all about winning football games."

It appears that yes Cousins is trying to get big money & be respected. However - it doesn't in any way appear that he wants to match/beat the Luck deal or be the highest paid player in the NFL. It sounds like he wants to be appropriately paid but also not do this at the risk of not leaving enough left to build a good team around him.

Luck has won some big games for them with less talent. He is just a better QB than KC is right now. Its crazy to compare the two.

And Kirk has won some big games for us... just not big enough in your opinion I guess. Again, chasing elite is why we are in the situation as a team that we are right now.

I hope its true. So what are you saying? You think he would take less than the Luck deal? You can post all the articles you want when it comes down the head to head meeting that is where the real talk happens.

He won one big game that meant something. Last year when we beat the Eagles for the division championship. Not chasing elite. Don't want to pay Rolls Royce money and get a Ford.

Why would he make statements like this in public and then turn around & basically put a gun to the Redskins head & ask for the moon? That makes no sense.

I will bet you whatever you like that they agree on an extension, but he will get far less than Luck in terms of guaranteed money. However - he will still get one of the bigger contracts in the NFL & it sounds like that is all that he wants. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Why do you keep portraying him as this super greedy guy who is asking for something that he doesn't deserve (& you do this with zero proof).

OK - you are in SM's role for a day. What is the max in terms of per year & guaranteed money that you would give to Cousins?

I think KC knows he has the leverage and works off the Luck deal.

BTW - let's try to be objective on this one & put the Giants game in the rear view mirror. OK - Cousins made several key mistakes. However - those are mistakes that he can correct moving forward. They are also mistakes that can be overcome by improvements on the rest of the roster either directly or by the fact that their impact will be minimized by improved play elsewhere. I believe that numerous posters have pointed out that paying Cousins big money will not handcuff the team in terms of upgrading the rest of the roster.

Stop thinking in terms of Cousins not being able to further improve his game. He is much better than a few years ago - no reason to think that he can't get even better.

So you just ignore the quote from Cousins stating that he is not trying to take the Redskins for every $ & realizes that the goal is to improve the team? I think that this will settle in somewhere below the Luck deal at least in terms of guaranteed money.

I don't care what he said. KC has all the leverage. Sm knows it. If KC wants to stay he should just say give me what Luck got and I will be happy.

I have said this in multiple posts already. Give him the Luck deal.

Which is unrealistic.. .salaries go UP in most cases. The Luck deal is the floor, odds are Kirk will get a tad bit more. Nothing Earth Shattering. But Kirks Deal is going to e based off of the Stafford and Carr deals likely to happen soon, and those deals will likely be MORE than the Luck deal.

Then I call foul. If SM offers the Luck deal and KC refuses. Some posters on here think KC takes less than the Luck deal.

IF he offers the Luck deal I think Kirk takes it. Some posters on here think he is only worth the Pablo deal of $16M a year though and if he wants real starter money, well we should let him walk or tag him and draft the next great thing.. .which isnt in this draft by the way.
