Its good they are taking their time. Besides, its not like they have a game to get ready for next week.

If that's the criteria, they could have done it last week as they sure as shit didn't get ready for the game they had on Sunday.

I think we will keep JB, beside there's no way the Broncos will let Wade go. Absolutely no way

You never know, with Kubiak retiring and all? The new coach may retain Phillips or he may want to roll with his own guy. Either way I don't see Wade becoming a Redskin next year or anytime soon, really.

The fact that a two week time table was put on it before any decisions would be made, should tell us that Gruden wants to keep Barry around. MOst of the firings that were going to happen, have happened. At this point the real question should be, if McVey gets the Rams gig, who do we bring in as OC at that point??

Jay Gruden says it's his call on Joe Barry, other assistants

Why does taking two weeks for Gruden to evaluate Barry & others automatically translate into meaning that Gruden wants to retain Barry? Even if that is true perhaps reviewing the past season over the next few weeks might reveal something to Gruden that might change his mind.

I would not take anything for granted at this time (especially if Gruden feels that some of this may jeopardize his future).

Much like the start of Free Agency, the majority of your good coaching candidates will have taken other gigs within the next week or two. Sure they might be trying to determine if the failures on defense were more on Barry or the players. BUt in two weeks, it might be a pointless question if the only candidates available to replace Barry are guys from in house, or guys that come with just as many questions as Barry has at present.

A few things we do know.

1. Since Barry has been here the defense has gotten systemically worse.
2. Tackling has become almost an afterthought.
3. The sign of a good coach is putting his players in a position to succeed.

Now i have heard/read quite a few comments of players defending Barry and saying it was the players fault because they couldnt master his scheme and he had to simplify the system for them. That could mean lacking talent, or a coach trying to get too cute with a system and not willing to adjust his system to the players he had.

The other option is, we could be looking at it as, the bar is so low at this point, there is no way Barry could possibly get worse.

I agree that good candidates will be gone over the next week or two but only to a degree. I believe that this primarily involves head coaching candidates. Good coordinators and assts may still be available. They could have been displaced by one of the fired coaches or perhaps you can find someone who was a position coach who is now ready to take the step up. You don't necessarily need to hire Wade Phillips, Todd Bowles or Jeff Fisher to find a good replacement for Barry.
